The Thrawn trilogy is damn good. Probably one if not the best trilogy that has been written in the Star Wars series.
Definitely this. You're in for a treat.
You guys called it. Only about 25% of the way through currently, but it's well written and surprisingly good. I had some reservations about a story set after the original films.

I finished " A Storm of Swords" a couple of days ago. I am now about 100 pages in to "A feast for Crows". I am really enjoying these books.

Much like the show, the books just keep getting better and twistier as they go along. In spite of the hugeness there is no "filler" and shit happens quick and crazy, it doesn't drag ass like most fantasy series that go beyond trilogy.

I still have Stephen King's The Stand on the nightstand.

I'm reading Insomnia by Stephen King. Probably not one of my favorites by him but it's still good enough to hold my attention.
Stephen King's writing style is good to the point that even when the main story is not something I care about at all it still makes for a great read. Michael Crichton was the same way, IMO.
I agree mostly. I was pretty disappointed by Dr Sleep, though. The beginning started out well and I was excited to read it, and then it kind of wasn't as good. And I don't think his style helped in this case because it made me feel like I was reading a book I'd already read lol.

Recently bought Fables: Legends in Exile, and Fables: Animal Farm. I've heard some good things, so I'm looking forward to reading them.

I just finished Book 2 in the Thrawn series, Dark Force Rising. I’m about 20% done with The Last Command. They’re easily the best of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, with the Bane trilogy being a close second for me.
Not sure what’s next. I might read the Thrawn dulogy, or I may move into some non-science fiction stuff for a bit. I’ve wanted to read Jack Reacher, Jack Ryan and Alex Cross. We’ll see.
Can’t wait for Book VI of A Song of Ice and Fire. Still trying to decide if I’ll reread all of them or just Book V. I would imagine it will depend on how far they make it with the show at that point.

Assassin's Creed Renaissance.
If you have ever played Assassin's Creed 2and finished it, you know this entire book.

Well the ones I got are a graphic novesl, which I guess are just books filled with comics. Either way, it is still a book and I am reading it, so it qualifies for this thread.

Once I finish Darth Plageis I'm going back and re-reading the Thrawn trilogy. I'm still trying to get my wife to at least read one Star Wars book, but she says "if I can't pronounce half the words in the book then I'm not reading it". I almost talked her into reading The Courtship of Princess Leia.

I think casual Star Wars fans would enjoy the Thrawn trilogy.
