Vermillion, what do you think of that series as a whole? I've read a few of his novels, and while they didn't do much for me, I've always been interested in Odd Thomas.
I'm about 450 pages into Fall of Giants, which is the first in a planned trilogy by Ken Follett. This one covers the 2-3 years leading into WW1, and concludes shortly after the war.

I'm not a huge Koontz fan either. Most of his stuff is fairly average. Odd Thomas (The Series) is easily his finest work IMO. I recommend it highly.

I'm thinking of giving The Great Gatsby another read through, it's such a good book. I'm really into the older stuff!
Colour me surprised, but Tale of Two Cities was actually a damn good read. Same for Ivanhoe.
For whatever reason, it always surprises me when I get to experience something that is hyped as "classic" and it actually turns out to be great.

That was a quick read but I enjoyed it thoroughly. If you liked the Mistborn Trilogy then you'll dig this. Now I'm moving on to the first volume in Brandon Sanderson's own epic saga, The Stormlight Archive. I guess he plans on making it a total of ten books.
Well over 2/3 the way thru it and absolutely love it. I think it will fill the void left by the ending of the Wheel of Time. Book two comes out this Fall.

Just ordered the first Game of Thrones book off of Amazon. I fell in love with the tv show. So I figure I should give the books a read.

I recently finished Choke by Chuck P. and I'm about to start World War Z, but I'll probably see the movie first.

I just started Professional Idiot: A Memoir by Steve-O from Jackass...I love the guy.

Just about to finish this and start on the second in the trilogy, The Temporal Void. This is epic sci-fi with a ton of different characters, interesting technology, and good "world-building" that doesn't get too bogged down in backstory detail.
Hamilton does a good job keeping each character of the huge cast interesting. Also, this trilogy is set about 1,000 years later in the same universe as 2 earlier novels he did, so I will have to track those down as well.
Highly recommended to people that like Star Trek and the type of gamers that actually read all the codex entries in the Mass Effect games.

From what I can tell, the movie isn't even a story directly from the book but instead just shares the same universe and tone. You won't be screwing anything up by seeing the movie first, like say if it happens to be shitacular. A really good book either way.
