On to the next stop of my Palahniuk Summer Tour. I finished Damned tonight and really enjoyed it. It's probably the best novel he's written since Rant. I'm now starting Lullaby and have only Invisible Monsters and Diary left to go.
Finished Lullaby tonight and loved it! It's now on my Top 5 Palahniuk list. That just leaves the two final stops on my summer tour. Invisible Monsters and Diary. Think I'll start Diary next.

I just finished A Dance with Dragons, and while it's certainly inferior to the first three, I thought it was a major improvement over A Feast for Crows. ADwD is a bit slow at times, and there are some characters that I just don't "get" (looking at you, Bran), but it's still a good read. I'm not that optimistic about the future of the series, as Martin just seems tired of the whole deal. I wish I had waited to read them, too, but I guess I'll read them again in 2020 when he does finish the series.

Irish, where would you recommend I start with Palahniuk's work?

Reading this again. It's been a while and it's such a good book. I'm enjoying it.

I'd definitely suggest you start with Fight Club, Survivor and Rant. I plan on ranking them all when I'm finished with Diary and Invisible Monsters.

Well I finished Diary last night. I enjoyed it but it doesn't crack my top 5. Now on to the last stop of my Palahniuk Summer Tour with Invisible Monsters. After that I'll have read all his novels except for Pygmy which I hear isn't very good.

The first Palahniuk novel I read (and the only one besides Fight Club so far) was Choke, and it was a very enjoyable experience. Nicely crazy, as one expects from the author.
Irish, have you seen the movie adaptation of Choke by chance? I am curious if it is worth hunting down or not.
I'll have to read Survivor and Rant ASAP.

I enjoyed the movie simply because I like Sam Rockwell. It's definitely worth a viewing if you liked the book. The movie does it justice but like most adaptations, leaves just a little to be desired. Check out the deleted scenes if you get a copy that has them. They left out the culminating scene where he's confronted by all the people who had saved him and he literally shits himself. I thought that was such an important moment in the book and was very surprised that they left it out. Let me know what you think of Survivor and Rant. I thought they were his most creative and engaging narratives. Survivor is written in the form of a first person account narrated by the main character as he's reciting his story into the black box recorder of a highjacked 747 that's on a crash coarse into the Australian Outback and the page numbers go in reverse counting down to when the plane runs out of fuel. Rant is written in the form of an oral biography taking a collection of numerous peoples accounts of the events surrounding the main character's life.

Finished it earlier tonight and loved it! Now that my Summer Palahniuk Tour is complete, I've read all of his novels except Pygmy which I have no plans to read anytime soon. Here's my rankings:
1. Fight Club
2. Survivor
3. Rant
4. Invisible Monsters
5. Lullaby
6. Choke
7. Damned
8. Diary
9. Tell-All
10. Haunted
*Snuff
*Does not deserve ranking. I hated it that much.

Now that I'm done with all the Palahniuk I wanted to read this summer I'm reading this one again for the third time. It's one of my all time favorites and my second favorite Vonnegut behind only Slapstick. So it goes. I forgot about the references he makes to characters and events from some of his others novels like Slapstick, God Bless You Mr. Rosewater and Mother Night. That's got me wanting to reread them and a couple more of his novels that I haven't read in a few years like Breakfast of Champions and Bluebeard. Looks like I'm off on another literary tour. Sorry for what's now a triple post since apparently I'm the only one who's read anything over the last month or at least the only one who's bothered to share.

I just finished DC Dead by Stuart Woods. It was a good book for a quick read.

Currently reading The Infection by Craig DiLouie. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it. I'm a sucker for zombie novels though.

Forgot to post last week when I finished that one and started another Vonnegut novel.
I surprised myself when I realized I had not read this one before. I could've sworn I read it a few years back when I went on a huge Vonnegut kick.
