I salute you, BoyzR. GTA and similar games do indeed glorify acts that are doable by any kid on the street.
I don't have an issue with it myself, but I understand the hate and I would probably feel differently if I was put in to some of the game's situations.

My 10 year old brother, who's mind is ripe for sculpting, plays these games constantly, and then goes around repeating the things he hears in them. I'm not saying its a universal thing, or that its the only cause of this issue. But in my own life it is a major cause of it and for that I have a personal issue with the games. I understand that its intent isn't to make people believe those sort of things are good, and I appreciate it for its entertainment value, I just know that if it didn't exist my house would have been a lot less full of obscenities and such from my brothers

I agree that it glorifies things that we should be taught are bad, and that it is a part of the desensitization that has occurred among children in the past decade or so... But you're also ignoring the most important part- those games are made for adults.
Yes, exposure to these things are not good for children- whether you believe they lead to violence or not... They are thoughts and images that shouldn't exist inside the minds of young children... But why would they? It isn't rockstar putting these games in the hands of a 10 year old, it's the parents and guardians who can't be bothered to find out what is appropriate for children or not, or maybe just don't care. And for a house with young kids to be full of obscenities and violence- that blame lands squarely on the shoulders of the parents as well. If that is allowed to go on in the house, it will happen. If it isn't allowed, it doesn't matter how many grand theft autos are made.

It's the same as letting a 10 year old watch Scarface or Goodfella's. They are not meant for children since they are "ripe for sculpting" as you call it and prone to imitate anything and everything. Adult entertainment should be reserved for adults and Meta. Hating on those movies for being what they are (adult oriented films) is silly. If you want to dislike GTA there are plenty of other more logical reasons! Namely Brucie

I acknowledge that my parents do not do a good job of monitoring the media my siblings have access to. And that its not Rockstar or GTA's fault that they're influenced by it. For me it's just a personal issue of I am personally offended by the content of the games and wish that it wasn't something that existed in my house. A simple solution obviously would be for the games not to be so crude. But that's not fair to them or to the people who do enjoy the games. I don't wish death upon GTA or anything, I just personally don't like hearing people scream about their exaggerated sexuality and murderous temptations, when they're too young to even understand what any of it means.
