Lol. I know. People fucking hate it. I think he did Daredevil just fine. Everyone said Heath Ledger was gonna be a shitty Joker and was he? No. Sure he died, but he still nailed that shit. So don't judge until you see for yourself.
I'm so tired of people whining about Batman now. Lmfao.
I'm extremely tired of this comparison...it's laughable. Ledger was nominated for a academy award AND a golden globe for best actor 3 years before playing Joker. Meanwhile Affleck has made more bombs then a Russian arms dealer. People were skeptical but nobody could doubt Ledger had tons of acting talent. Nicholson is a tough act to follow! He was also in the prime of his career at 28 with his best years ahead of him. Ben is 41 and is only just now learning how to act. Daredevil was also a terrible movie that is only noted for it's soundtrack launching Evanescence into the big time.
If they released that Paulie Shore will be the new Ironman after RDJ, nobody would have to "Wait and see" to tell you it's a bad idea.
As for killing the franchise...
Batman and Robin supposedly did that...and they didn't make another Batman for 8 years. Now it's back stronger then ever. Sometimes it takes terrible to make us appreciate something good. Batman will endure...

Well, Ben Affleck isn't Paulie Shore... But you're right, Heath Ledger was a great actor (who was in his share of shitty movies).
But I honestly hate the reboot, not just Christian "trash your lights" Bale, but the movies in general, so I look forward to seeing Batman going in a different direction. And I think Ben Affleck has the potential to do it well... or bomb, it could go either way.

I'm all for a Batman reboot. Maybe Affleck could direct...just not star in it.

Why does Batman have to immediately have a prominent "girlfriend" in this movie? If they seriously go with the Wonder Woman rumor, via the casting announcement of "strong and athletic female", DC will officially jump the shark.
How can we introduce Wonder Woman? Oh yeah, make her a subservient accessory to Batman. They can be- like- dating and stuff... and then Superman pisses Batman off because he's like, an alien. Not like the rest of us. And then Batman broods all butt-hurt, and then his girlfriend comes out of the closet, and is like- hey, I'm an alien too. We're not all bad. And she brings them back together. Wonder Woman: serviceable girlfriend / bromance councilor.

I think they're going with the dumbest option possible, so the audience isn't confused. Audience confusion makes old Warner Bros studio executives scared. Christopher Nolan stood up to them at first, then eventually caved in. If you walk down the street and ask people who Talia al Ghul is, you'd be lucky if 1 out of 10 people give you any answer.
Man of Steel retread the best of Superman II, with Batman Begins. Because people know who Zod is. And Superman II was arguably the best in the franchise. Star Trek Into Darkness retread Wrath of Khan because people know who Khan is. The storyline of this Batman / Superman movie is already known as being ripped off from The Dark Knight Returns miniseries, since they quoted it at its reveal, and people generally are aware of it. The last two Batman movies had Dark Knight in its title.
I would be surprised if Wonder Woman isn't in this movie. They'd setup the main three, and can springboard straight to Justice League.

They're rushing the damn thing. It pains me to watch something that could be so powerful be destroyed by impatience. I'm personally a Marvel guy, but I would easily love to see a DC Cinematic Universe that's actually comparable to the Marvel one. But.... I don't see it being successful at all. On the plus side, there' lots of juicy Marvel stuff to look forward to in the coming two years and I'm incredibly stoked for that.

I completely agree. Certain DC heroes have decades of history over Marvel's, and could have a lot more weight. I don't mind the Superman / Jesus approach with Man of Steel, but it was too heavy handed. It has to be subtle to work better. People saw Man of Steel and it did well, because it's SUPERMAN. Instead of playing piggyback off Marvel because their model worked, they should make a new model. But no-- let's do what will make money quickest, and make inferior movies riding off Marvel's coattails.
