Quote by Mike Vick:
I own this movie and it's way to messed up!!!!! It's the reason on why they have "no animals were harmed in the making of this film" also all of that is real animal brutality. We need to see "The Green Inferno" which is Eli Roth's take on the movie haha. I'll never be the same and i'd sell it but they only wanna offer me like 8 bucks and I payed 40

For real. I don't get disturbed by movies in the slightest, but this "movie" was just so mindlessly brutal that I wasn't even concerned about the plot whatsoever. I had a copy laying around my house so I luckily didn't have to pay for it! But I actually really dig Eli Roth's movies though, so I might have to watch that. Which reminds me that I saw Cabin Fever a couple days ago and that movie still fucking rules.

Hell Ride - 1/5
This was bad. The dialog was awkward and the way it was filmed made it look incredibly cheap. There was some interesting cameos from big name actors but overall I am surprised they managed to get Quentin Tarantino to put his name on the project. This film is bad enough that it could be Uwe Boll's adapation of the Ride to Hell game.
Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – as much as I enjoy the Marvel live action films, I have to say that DC is killing them with the animated stuff. I don’t personally like the anime style that’s employed with this and Avengers Confidential, but it might be less off-putting for others. The villain is pretty good, and Iron Man’s character is as snappy as always, though.
4.5/10
From Hell (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – has decent style, and Depp is good, but you’ll have the ending pegged well before you get there. It’s worth a watch for fans of Depp and the genre, but nothing you should go out of your way to see.
5.5/10
Restrepo (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I think this should be required viewing for anyone who wants to fight our nation’s wars. The realism is almost a little surreal. The documentary is essentially the entire Iraq/Afghanistan campaigns in a nutshell.
7.5/10
The Hurricane (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I was a little disappointed to be honest. I’m a big Denzel fan, and while he’s certainly one his game here, everything else is a little too familiar and formulaic. Most every character is very stock, too. They also didn’t cover too terribly much ground with a 146 minute runtime.
6/10
The Wolf of Wall Street (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I’ve been putting this one off for a while, mostly because of the intimidating runtime at 179 minutes. I wish I had watched it sooner, though. I can’t comment on McConaughey’s performance in Dallas Buyer’s Club, but it had better be exceptional, because DiCaprio is fantastic in this. WoWS has some extremely funny moments, and I found it to be very engrossing. If there’s one thing I took from it, it’s that I’m not cut out for Wall Street. It’s surprisingly nihilistic and depressing, given the content. This one comes fairly high recommended.
8/10
The East (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I was surprisingly pleased by this one. It’s essentially about an operative who’s tasked with infiltrating an eco-terrorism group, The East. The operative gets attached to the members and their direction, so that’s where the drama comes in. It’s very well-acted, and makes excellent use of its lower budget. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something a little more thought provoking.
7.5/10
Only Lover's Left Alive - This was a weird, depressing, enjoyable movie. It's about Vampires and music!!!! 7/10
This is the more recent one with The Rock in it. He and his supporting cast did a great job with the action scenes--the movie is filled more with old fashioned stunts and things breaking rather than CGI. The way the story explains Hercules' legend and some of his more mythological trials is interesting and different. There was a lot of corny humor and cringe-worthy one-liners but overall I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Recommended to most action fans, especially those that like "sword & sandal" flicks like Conan, Red Sonja, etc.
Hellraiser - (2nd viewing) This was a great classic and I see why now. As watching this when I was younger it didn't make too much sense. But great story 8/10
Hellraiser 2: Hellbound (2nd viewing) Same for this one. I enjoyed it for the most part some of the Hellworld things were meh but other than that I enjoyed this sequel. 7/10
Hellraiser: Revelations - This is terrible and sucks from start to finish. 0/10
Thor: Tales of Asgard (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – not as bad as some of the other Marvel animated films, but not on par with most of DC’s stuff. For some reason they elected to tell this story from the perspective of a young, teenage Thor, who’s over confident and all fluff. It’s more or less a coming of age tale, which really isn’t using the character to his fullest potential, in my opinion. It has some good action and moves along fairly briskly, though.
5/10
Mercury Rising (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Not a bad movie, but mostly just acts as a vehicle for Bruce Willis to be Bruce Willis, having him performing all his familiar antics. If the idea of a kid with autism decoding a top-secret code for protecting undercover agents seems odd to you, then we have something in common. It’s worth a watch for some decent 90s action or Willis completionists, but don’t go out of your way.
6/10
Planet Hulk (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Definitely the best of the Marvel animated film I’ve seen. It has a surprisingly strong story, and the characters are really good too – usually the very things these movies lack. I highly recommend this to fans of Hulk and animated stuff.
6.5/10
Amistad (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I thought it was a good movie, but it’s not an easy watch. Good acting all around, especially from Hopkins and Honsou. Well worth the watch for fans of American history, especially for the Revolution/Civil War era. Everything about the movie feels very authentic.
7/10
Apollo 13 (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Enjoyed it more than I thought, especially considering it’s a story I know how ends. I credit its watchability to excellent direction and strong acting, particularly from Ed Harris and Tom Hanks. Much like Amistad, I was very impressed with the authenticity of the period the film is set in. If you haven’t seen this by now, it’s worth the time.
7.5/10
Black Rain (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Given the limited exposure this received and the fairly formulaic approach, I was very shocked to see it was directed by Ridley Scott. It plays out more or less how you would expect, and does very little to separate itself from the buddy-cop genre. Douglas bumps things up a bit, and overall its stays more interesting than the average film in its respective genre.
