what is it about Silver Playbook Jennifer Lawrence that is getting mousey maidens moist?
But honestly, I don't think I'd really care to watch a good movie so I'll go ahead and skip it.
Cold Light of Day (Blu-ray) – I initially was interested in this because of the cast, and I thought it would be a decent chance to see if Cavill has the chops for Man of Steel, as I’ve yet to him in anything (srs). This plays out like a combo of Taken and Bourne, but doesn’t have the action of the Taken flicks, or the intelligence of the Bourne series. I did, however, like it better than Taken 2. The plot was a lot more convoluted than it needed to be, and I still don’t what exactly was happening. This is probably one to pass on unless you’re a big fan of some of the leads, or you’re a diehard fan of this particular genre.
5/10
Client, The (DVD) – it’s a shame that Schumacher’s legacy is the destruction of the Batman film series, because there was a time when he was making solid films. I see this as one of those solid films. Sarandon and Jones are both great in their roles, as is Renfro in his first ever feature film. I definitely give it two thumbs up if you’re a fan of courtroom dramas. Some of the smaller details of the plot are a little hokey, and the horrendous fake southern accents are out in full force.
7/10
Broken City (Blu-ray) – I liked it better than most. I thought all of the leads were solid, and the movie stays interesting throughout. It’s not the most original of concepts, but the execution is solid, and there’s not a lot of fluff here, either. I thought the conclusion was a little hasty, though; I would have appreciated another 10 minutes to tie up everything a bit better.
7/10
A Time to Kill (DVD) – I watched another Schumacher-directed Grisham adaptation. I thought this one was a little better than The Client. I credit it mostly to a loaded film in terms of stars, and with a story like this, it’s bound to be entertaining. McConaughey is surprisingly good, and Samuel L. Jackson’s famous line will always stick with me, “Yes, they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in hell”.
7/10
Star Trek (Blu-ray) – I remember going to see this when it was in theater, and though I’ve owned it on both DVD and Blu-ray since its home media release, I’m just now watching it again. I think it was a great start to the series, and it definitely makes the franchise more approachable to regular people, while also retaining the Trekkies. I like the casting for the most part, with Urban and Quinto being the best in their respective roles. Eric Bana was also great as Nero; I wish they’d have developed his character a little more, though.
8/10
Star Trek: Into Darkness (Theater) – another step in the right direction for the series, and it definitely did a great job of setting the stage for the inevitable third film. I didn’t think this one was quite as good as the original, and I credit that mostly to Nero in the original. I did like the fact that Bones had a more central role in this one; I think he’s probably my favorite character. I feel like this one had a slightly darker tone than the original, and Benedict Cumberbatch is good too, just not as good as Bana to me.
7/10

I went to the theater with the same 4-5 people that I watched the 2009 Star Trek with, and we all agreed it was good, but not as good as the original. It's a little darker, but other than that, it's essentially more of the same - which isn't a bad thing in this case.
The last 30 minutes or so are pretty much nonstop action, so don't be alarmed by the previews.
In the movie, she agrees to sleep with Ray Liotta's character for a reason that's irrelevant to my point, just know that there are some VERY good shots of her topless. I mean like 30 second long scenes. Yes, that's plural. 10/10 rack
Meta, I thought you might find this especially interesting.
