Finals started this week and I watched about 7-8 episodes of Heroes, so I didn't get to watch as many as I normally do.
Manchurian Candidate (DVD) – I’ve been meaning to check this out since I watched Homeland (loved it; btw), as they’re essentially the same sort of story. I thought it was okay, but sometimes seemed to lose focus and dragged by. I didn’t think it was one of Denzel’s stronger performances, either.
5/10
After the Sunset (DVD) – I enjoyed this Ratner-directed heist film a lot more than I anticipated I would. Tower Heist (also directed by Ratner) was pretty good fun and this is a lot like that. The movie is loaded with talent, with Harrelson being the standout as usual. I definitely recommend this if you liked Tower Heist, or if you’re just looking for something light.
6/10
Silver Linings Playbook (Blu-ray) – rides the line between dramatic and funny pretty well (better than most), but isn’t especially memorable from either side. It’s definitely well acted, but I didn’t think it stood out anywhere near enough to warrant all the love it received, just my opinion.
6.5/10
Iron Man 3 (theater) – an improvement over the 2nd, but not on par with the original. I’m kind of torn between these “fun” comic book movies, and the dark, brooding comic book movies like The Dark Knight trilogy and The Watchmen. I love the snappy dialogue and wit of the Iron Man series, but there’s never really any sense of peril. I thought for a time they were really going to crank up the stakes in this one, but ultimately that gets unraveled (won’t spoil too much), which makes the whole first half seem a little pointless. Still, if you liked the first two, you’ll definitely enjoy this one too; just don’t expect it to be really any different. I think this installment probably had the most action, and it is a bit longer in run time than the others.
7.5/10

Street Fighter (94) - 5/5 NNR
OMFG this movie is so freaking good. Every time I watch it I find new stuff to love. Raul Julia's M Bison is so damn epic, and every time I see the scene where Sagat opens the case and finds "bison dollars" I burst out laughing. My only complaints are that I hate who they got for Ken & Ryu, and I want more scenes with Cammy (Kylie Minogue) fighting with her braids down.

lol this should go in the unpopular opinions thread. Nobody likes this movie but it's entertaining!

Exactly one year ago, May 8th, 2012, I made a vow to watch a movie / day.
I’ve of course tracked all of them in Excel, so here are some stats for those of you who care:
Total movies: 384
Average score – 5.97 / 10
Highest Average by Genre: ComicBook Movies – 7.00 / 10
Lowest Average by Genre: Horror – 4.94 / 10
Individual Ratings:
1s: 2 (The Zombie Diaries, Backwoods)
2s: 11
3s: 14
4s: 27
5s: 63
6s: 126
7s: 89
8s: 43
9s: 7
10s: 2 (The Dark Knight – 5th viewing, The Watchmen – 3rd viewing)
Hopefully I can hit 365 again this year.
I'm also currently working on developing an r^2 formula to predict the rating before I watch it, and see if there's any discrepancy between predicted values and actual values.

Pretty good. Ive been thinking about doing this for 6 months. It's interesting you have so many 6's compared to 5's.

Jack Reacher (2012) 6.5/10
Not a bad movie by any means, Tom Cruise is a popular actor with me and while I don't usually go for that whole 'bad-ass army/cop/renegade archetype that he and so many other action movie stars fall under, this movie actually played out a lot differently than I thought and overall I enjoyed it. It's a good film that doesn't require you to over think much of anything as all is explained in a sensible manner. Fun to watch and has some humor sprinkled in to make for a decent movie viewing experience.

It's a lot of fun, and it gives you the chance to catch up on a lot of movies (I had a HUGE backlog), especially ones you might not would normally watch.

Goon - 8/10
Great funny hockey movie. Pretty vulgar language so you don't want to watch with the kids, but if you love hockey, you'll love goon!

silver linings playbook 9/10
it was really good, some parts are difficult to watch because of the issues Cooper and Lawerence's characters have, but that's what makes it fantastic.
