Fast & Furious 6 - 4/5 - Thought it was pretty good, not the best in the series. They're going way too far from the whole racing aspect that started the series.

I kinda think that's the point, the whole street racing fad has kinda died out.
Yeah but it just seems kind of dumb that they went from "street racers" to G.I. Joe.

I exploit my pop culture trends a quarter mile at a time. Fast & Furious 7 will feature Vampire bikers and Zombie ice road truckers.
Drive Angry (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – it’s completely ridiculous and over the top, but still pretty fun. Think of it as a combination of Ghost Rider and The Wicker Man, without the hilariously bad overacting from Wicker Man. If you liked Death Proof and you’re looking for something to sate the desire for an exploitation/grind house sort of flick, this will fill that void reasonably well.
5/10
The Brothers Grimm (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – had this on DVD for years without ever watching it, but I got this and Drive Angry for $5 each over the weekend, so I finally decided to give this a go. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. It definitely has some problems, particularly its inability to hone in on the story and stay focused; I felt like it bounced around without any real direction for a while. It doesn’t take itself too seriously at all, and the atmosphere and dark humor are great. It gets a definite recommendation for fans of Van Helsing or any of the recent films based on fairy tales (Snow White, Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel).
6.5/10
Doom (Blu-ray, 2nd or 3rd viewing) – this has been a guilty pleasure of mine for years. I’ll be the first to admit that the film has some problems, and it’s essentially Resident Evil on Mars, but it’s still a lot of fun. It’s another chance for me to see my boy, “The Rock”, in action, as well as one of the most underrated actors of our time, Karl Urban. The film is full of clichés, it’s too dark, and it takes a lot of liberties with its source material, but I’ll always like it for what it is.
6.5/10
Priest (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – much like Doom, this is one of my guilty pleasures. Come to think of it, most all of these action horror flicks are fun to me (Resident Evil, Underworld, Blade, Doom, Legion, Priest, etc.). This one has a very interesting premise, but isn’t very well executed. The story and world created in the first 20 minutes far exceed the development that follows it. It’s also another chance to see Karl Urban, who’s as great as always. Scott Stewart’s films have mostly been panned, but they’re some of my favorite to watch when I just want to lay back and turn off for a bit.
6.5/10
Texas Chainsaw 2013 (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – not really sure what to title this, as it’s technically intended to be a sequel to the original. Anyway, I thought it was a pretty decent slasher, but I enjoyed the 2003 remake more for sure. I think this is more on par with the prequel from 2006. I’ve got a soft spot for these, so I’m not the best judge if you’re looking for an unbiased opinion. I thought it had some good kills and of course the requisite hot babe or two (but no boobs!), really just your typical modern slasher. It all depends on what you like, but being a fan of this sort of movie, I was happy with the familiarity.
6/10
Jack Reacher (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – surprisingly strong action thriller with Cruise it the title role. I didn’t really expect much from it, but it was very entertaining, and though I find myself knocking him in day-to-day conversation, Cruise is strong again. I had some problems with the story, but overall it was a lot of fun.
7/10
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – first off, it’s been 14 years since this was released…wow! This is definitely the most hated film in the prequel trilogy among critics and fans alike, and while I think it has some problems, I think it’s decent. As an entry in the series, it’s nothing special, but if you view it as a standalone sci-fi flick, it’s not that bad. The most heavily criticized elements are normally Jar Jar and many call it boring. I don’t think he’s that bad, as he’s mostly just there for comic relief. I especially enjoyed the scene where he, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon are traveling through the core to reach Naboo quicker; the film definitely has some strong moments. I get that it was first role, but the child actor playing Anakin was bad. Overall, forget (if you can) that it’s even connected to the others, and you might like it a little better.
7/10
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – I actually like this one a little less than Phantom Menace, but they’re on about the same level. I don’t think he’s a very talented actor anyway, but Hayden Christensen was especially bad here, as is Portman, who I think has blossomed into a great actor today. I guess this one was necessary to bring in Palpatine’s connection to the Separatist faction, and to introduce the clones, but to me this was way more boring than The Phantom Menace.
7/10
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – definitely the strongest entry in the prequel trilogy. I really felt like they struck the right balance with this one, as it needed to be darker than PM and AotC. I think this one definitely has the most action and feels the most “necessary” of the prequels to me. Hayden Christensen does much better here than in AotC, but there are still some scenes that could have had a greater impact with a stronger actor in the role.
7.5/10
Jurassic Park - 10/10 - Still one of the greatest movies ever made. 3D was a nice touch.
Awesome mix of sci-fi and terrorist attack movie. Kinda confusing at times, but everything comes together at the end. The action in it was kinda cliche though, nothing special.
Great for a kids movie! Whole family enjoyed this one
An intimate and lighthearted look at FDR, Bill Murray is brilliant, and the women in his life. All revolving around one of the biggest moments early in his presidency. A diplomatic visit from the King and Queen of England which happened to be the very first time a ruling British Monarch visited the US.
