The Hunger Games. 7/10
Honestly although it was a good movie I was very dissapointed. After hearing the hype all week I went to a special midnight showing with a lady friend of mine who has read the books.
When we left the movie I said it was alright but could have been better because many what I thought to be important plot elements (remember I haven't read the books) were almost entirely disregarded towards the later part of the movie, in what I can only assume to be fan service to those that read the books.
Overall I thought the pacing to be poor, but once again I didn't read the books, those that read the books seem to disagree with me ~90% of the time.

when you say the pacing is poor, what is too fast or too slow? I read the books, and I the only thing I didnt like about the movie was that they made the games seems like it was only a 5 day thing.... but in the books it was a few weeks

Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerAt times it was too fast and at others too slow in my opinion, I'll try not ruin anything for those that haven't read the books/seen the movie but I make no promises. I felt that at the beginning the part with Kat's life in District 12 was rushed and honestly don't know who her hunting partner (Gale might have been his name?) was or why he was significant because it felt he was put in there for fanservice and to set up the sequel.
Other parts felt rushed as well such as when a certian character was beginning to help Kat I never felt like I was able to truely grow attatched to her like I would be in the book before her part in the movie was over. Other parts took too long, such as when Kat was stung by hornets, there was no need for 5 minutes of hallucinations IMO and this could have been better spent in other aspects of the movie.
I also felt that the training of the tributes was glossed over as I never really got to feel much for any of the other characters except for Kat's skill with a bow and Peeta's strength.
Overall I just though a lot of little things added up throughout the movie, I'm sure those that read the book will appreciate it more though. And yes, I didn't realize the games took 2 weeks or so untill very late in the movie.

Pretty much everything you didnt like is the same thing I didnt like!
But the part with Gale in the movie... Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerYeah he seemed pointless in the movie. But of course this isn't the case. In the book you can tell they are super close friends and he is a setup for the sequel since Katniss has to deal with the whole fake love with Peeta and her weird relationship she has/had with Gale.
And like you said... the training part was washed down too. They spent lots of time in the book with training. This movie itself is kinda favored for the people who have already filled in missing info with the book.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this, I actually had a pretty good fight with my lady friend after the movie because of those parts.
I have a good feeling about the sequel though, a lot of people aren't happy with the movie and I have a feeling they'll fix these problems for the 2nd. Plus I recently learned that the author of the books wrote the screenplay for the movie which in my opinion is usually a disaster simply because of the differences in reading a book and watching a movie.
Even with thinking about the movie and researching the production of it off and on all day I still have to hold with the 7/10. In my opinion they just tried to do way too much and I feel it hurt them in the long run.
