The Thing 2012 - 3/10 - Wasn't scary, the story made no sense in this version. I mean nothing meshed well together at all, and the ending was just stupid.

It's been a few years since I read the book but for what I can remember I think they did a good job of staying faithful. I enjoyed it a lot. Especially the smoking hot blonde.

Pretty much everything you didnt like is the same thing I didnt like!
But the part with Gale in the movie...
Yeah he seemed pointless in the movie. But of course this isn't the case. In the book you can tell they are super close friends and he is a setup for the sequel since Katniss has to deal with the whole fake love with Peeta and her weird relationship she has/had with Gale.
And like you said... the training part was washed down too. They spent lots of time in the book with training. This movie itself is kinda favored for the people who have already filled in missing info with the book.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this, I actually had a pretty good fight with my lady friend after the movie because of those parts.
I have a good feeling about the sequel though, a lot of people aren't happy with the movie and I have a feeling they'll fix these problems for the 2nd. Plus I recently learned that the author of the books wrote the screenplay for the movie which in my opinion is usually a disaster simply because of the differences in reading a book and watching a movie.
Even with thinking about the movie and researching the production of it off and on all day I still have to hold with the 7/10. In my opinion they just tried to do way too much and I feel it hurt them in the long run.
I am with Detroit, everything you mentioned are the same gripes I had about the movie as well. Pieces felt rushed, while others I don't think they took enough time on.
I don't like how they didn't really tell us more about Gale and Katniss' and put more structure into that bit of the story (probably not the best term but oh well) More in the second and third book you get more of a love triangle between the three. Hopefully they put more emphasis into it in the next movie.
I really enjoyed the movie, but after reading the book you get more of a feel for the little nuances that add up after a while. I understand there is a lot of information within the book to convey all of the emotions within the book (like you said, when Katniss becomes closer with Rue because she sees her sister in her) But dang, the twilight movies did the books justice (from what I heard) and those books were a bit more thicker then The Hunger Games.
But to be honest, I would rather have the author helping with the screenplay, that way there is some kind of track to stay on, rather then having someone who completely ruins it.
I saw the movie when I was working in Mississippi. I was actually suppose to be AT work when I saw the movie in theatre. But it was my last day of the week and the only one within my department at the plant, so I bounced and saw the movie, lol
I know this is a long rant so I will make the next bit quick
Project X 3/5
The person that helped create the hangover did this movie too, and it was cool. To be honest, it was not as funny as the previews made it out to be and was not worth the money (unless you went to a matinee and only spent $5.) Other then that, either download it, or wait until it comes to DVD and red box it.

I started watching the sitter but I fell asleep within the first 20 mins of it because it was boring haha
Just a brilliant piece of film making. Scorsese never fails to impress me.
This is one movie I actually wish I had gone to see in 3D at the theater.
This movie shows you a different side of Spielberg. It's not hokey like Indiana Jones and E.T. It really makes you stop and think for a minute about humans and what we're really capable of. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
I really liked it. Wish the action parts would have been longer but I still enjoyed it very much.
Fast Five - 3.5 out of 5.
Always liked the Fast and Furious movies. This one was decent. Not enough racing IMO.
Yes it had amazing action.
Plot could have had more to it.
It just kept building into more talking and sitting around, my girlfriend and i didn't like it very much.
