The second stop on my Hitchcock tour is the 1946 espionage thriller starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Burgman. Burgmen was magnificent as the spoiled, drunken party girl who is recruited to spy on her father's Nazi cohorts in post-war Brazil after he's convicted of treason. Grant plays the agent who recruits her and acts as her handler and the plot thickens when they fall for each other. Hitchcock sure knew how to pick his leading ladies and he sure loved the blondes. I also had to giggle a little when I recognized a couple scenes in this film that they used in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid with Steve Martin.
9/10
Another french action flick written by Luc Besson. The guys a genius at making action movies in case you didin't already see "The Fifth Element", "The Transporter" or "District 13". It's starring actor "Jean Reno" who was also lights out in another one of Besson's films "Leon the Professional". It's an action/comedy blend that pokes fun of some of his earlier work with some great comedic moments and off the wall action sequences. Japanese idol Ryōko Hirosue makes her serious acting debut with this film as well. She makes Lucy Liu look like Crocodile Dundee she's so hot. It's currently on netflix. Check it out if you can read subtitles. I know reading dialogue is too taxing for some peoples attention spans.
The next stop on my Hitchcock tour is his 1954 classic thriller starring James Stewart as L.B. Jefferies, a photographer recovering from a broken leg who becomes obsessed with observing his neighbors especially now that he suspects one of them has committed murder. Grace Kelly (Hichcock's magnificent blonde this time around) co-stars as Jefferies' love interest and fellow amateur sleuth. This was one of the few Hitchcock films I'd already seen but it had been so long and I wanted to add it to my marathon cause it is definitely one of his best.
