Sorry critics, this isn't "high art", it's pornography for people that won't admit they like porn. Sure it's dramatic and has an intense story but frankly I've seen better stories and "acting" in actual porn (Dreamquest, Pirates). What really torques me off about this movie is that Blockbuster bought tons of copies because the movie won a bunch of festival awards, even though BB has always had a strict policy against movies rated NC-17. They refused to stock QUALITY movies that deserve the rating, like Caligula or Lust, Caution, but now they apparently have no problem having this weak, whiney porn sitting right next to the Muppets Movie and The Sitter.
Immortals - 2.5 out of 5
Movie was alright.... nothing really special. But the bloody battles were cool. 300 clone IMO.
Super 8 - 4 out of 5
Really liked this one. Bunch of kids making their own zombie flick... witness some crazy stuff. And whole bunch of ET-government cover up-military in your small town type of stuff ensues.
The Sitter - 4 out 5
I seen people on here give this movie low ratings. But I thought it was funny as hell. I mean the whole motive behind everything is dumb, but Jonah Hill had me dying a lot.
Don't know how to rate it. But in gore gets a 100/10.
Super - wow, almost too weird for me to like. I mean, it was weird enough as is, but then you toss in the weird religious stuff, a horny Ellen Page, and you have a recipe for a weird one. I thought Rainn was pretty good, and The Baconator had a fun role. 5/10
Chronicles of Riddick - I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit. It definitely has its shortcomings, but there were some nice set pieces, and the action was pretty decent. Karl Urban is one of my favorite actors, so I was very pleased to hear that he's rumored to be working on the sequel. I think this is a saga/series that has some potential. 6-7/10
Aeon Flux - ehh, Theron's suuupper hot, but this a very average, (if that) sci-fi flick. I think the main problem is the running time, which checks in at a paltry ~90 minutes. It just seemed there were some areas that could be better elucidated, and a few too many plot elements for it to make much sense. It passes the time well enough, I suppose, but don't expect anything groundbreaking, or even memorable, for that matter. 5/10
Also, are you implying that I give "good" movies bad scores, or I watch a lot of bad movies? I'm confused because the GIF you posted has Willy Wonka saying "I give nothing", which would mean that I watch "good" movies, and give them poor scores. Clarification required, sir.
On a more relevant note:
Crazy, Stupid, Love - very good romantic comedy, if that's even a proper summation of its genre. I can't say much negative, although some might find it to be contrived. 7/10
