My first post in like 500 years. Hey everyone! anyways I wanted to chime in on this because as someone that's been to E3 many of times I can tell you that all the devs do this with all their games.
The console is just there for show and not actually running the game whatsoever. The dev kits really are just PCs built to run the games as best as it can so there isn't any hiccups or problems with it. Plus these things are running all day of these shows constantly 24/7 without a break.
Now the difference here is that in those PCs Microsoft is using they are using an Nvidia GTX card. I don't know exactly which one. Some people have said a 680 and some a 780. I can tell you though that a GTX 680/780 is way ahead of what's inside an X1 and a PS4 by far. I have a 660 TI personally in my rig and those cards are above mine by far.
Now either A. they did this because they want to show the games as best as they can and it won't matter because the games will look just as good as this on the console so no harm no foul as it you wouldn't be able to tell a difference in quality at launch from this or B. this is a complete smoke and mirrors play and the games won't look at all like this and just want to try and impress with big graphics for the sake of selling their console and tricking them into buying it when this is no where the quality you're going to get.
Keep in mind though that my card can run every game so far that's been released recently at 1080p and @60 FPS without a hitch and having everything maxed out in the effects department. They've said this will be the norm for games (1080p 60fps) at launch and beyond and I believe with both cards the X1 and PS4 have int hem they'd be able to do this no problem.
I'm pretty sure though that once we see the games running on the finished consoles that we'd get a better view as to what differences there are in graphics if any. But just keep in mind that this is completely normal. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony all do this. None of their games run off of consoles themselves. Heat wise it wouldn't be a very good thing either being inside of a cabinet all day long running at max constantly (probably why AC4 crashed during the sony conference too).
Anyways just wanted to clear that up because it's something I've seen with my own eyes and it's nothing new. This has been going on for years now.

Chris is a tool for buying a system without any games. Clearly he intends on bumming off of his friends.

We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.
They're like we know we're right, but here you go shut the fuck up.

And there it is. Now everyone can just go back to normal gaming life and not worry about DRM foolishness.

Well the Family Sharing plan I was getting excited about has been scrapped along with this news, well can't have everything
"These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray. "
