im getting tickets for this cruise as soon as i get the money. im so mad i didnt know about it last year. so many many many many great bands. including Fear Factory, Dark Tranquillity, and Korpiklaani. this year looks promising already though. Eluveitie, Amorphis, and Children of Bodom already announced, and the first 28 bands. but there are 40 in all, so there are still some surprises to come! the cruise sets sail mid Jan in Miami, FL and goes pretty much close to Europe before coming back after 5 days/4 nights.

God is an Astronaut - All is Violent, All is Bright (Album Review)
Sounds like: If These Trees Could Talk, Animals as Leaders, Maybeshewill
Tagged: Post-Rock, Ambient, Instrumental, Progressive, Experimental
i had only heard of God is an Astronaut through a friend, and i listened to 30 seconds of one song and wasnt impressed at all. now, after several months i came back and gave a full song a listen then grabbed All is Violent, All is Bright. i love this band. in a few words, the best way to desribe this band is "jazzy space age elevator music". God is an Astronaut are a four-piece instrumental band who hail from Glen of the Downs, Ireland; taking their name from a line in Clive Barker’s film ‘Nightbreed’. All is Violent, All is Bright has a very surreal sound that just feels like it's personified purity. this is a very talented group who dont need words at all to describe their feelings. with a very ambient spacey soundscape, beautiful piano, and very soothing fretwork, these guys are on top of things. i can listen to this album from start to finish and just feel relaxed the whole way through. with the guitar work you can almost feel the sadness coming from their strings, gently weeping. although very somber and dark at times, it begins to build on itself to a very peaceful tune. i recommend this band to anyone who just wants a feel good group or just wants background music for writing a paper or coding or anything really. although allover good, the tracks i started with were Suicide by Star, Forever Lost, A Deafening Distance, and All is Violent, All is Bright. i recommend these as your starters as well, to get a feel for the group.
All is Violent, All is Bright gets 5 emo bashing xMike's out of 5

I'm going next year, when I'm 21. Kinda like the spoil to myself.
Love me some metal, bring up a band or two and a genre and I'll discuss.

Sybreed - Antares (album review)
Sounds like: Mechina, Fear Factory, Synthetic Breed, Hord, Arkaea
tagged: Industrial Metal, Future Fusion Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Groove Metal
formed in Geneva, Switzerland in mid-2004, Sybreed(ex-Rain) is the face of Industrial Metal. never before had i heard a group of this magnitude. with perfect switching back and forth between Ben's death screams and beautiful melodies. the only flaw that this band has that others would argue is the use of autotune, which is fairly obvious Ben uses at times, most notably on "Orbital", with a very robotic sound. i do not see this as as a flaw, more of a way to open themselves to more variation. this album is the essence of perfection, with epic songs that almost rock the very foundation of your structure. i cannot find a single reason not to like this album. perfectly timed, perfectly delivered. almost like a concept album, it keeps to a single theme which is space. everything in this album, down to the samples, is spacey and futuristic. easily, this is hailed as my all time favorite album. the album has 2 bonus tracks, one for North America (Technocracy) and the other being a Japanese Bonus Track (Plasmaterial). there are two different covers, one showing the system of Antares, the other showing a very interesting picture of Ben on a deserted blue planet with ruins. Sybreed is on a path with full momentum, crushing anything in their path. the new album is in works, preview one of the new tracks on their Challenger EP.
Antares gets a 6 out of 5. yes. it's that good.

Dunno if there are any other closet Dragonforce fans here besides me, but this is a brand-new song that will be on their upcoming studio album in February.
It even features their new vocalist who sounds pretty good so far. It's called Lost Fallen World:

i have REALLY started liking this band. usually, i dont look twice at Doom Metal, so depressing and half the time bland. but Godgory is an exception. very powerful.

it's the newest status. shit, imo, good riddance. i prefer Jesse Leach 100x more.
Quote by Killswitch Engage:
To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of Killswitch Engage. We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we've had him in the band. Out of respect for everyone involved we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well. He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of Killswitch, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward. Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time. We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of. Sincerely, Adam, Joel, Mike & Justin.

Thanks. I'll be honest, I really liked Howard's vocals. Wasn't as much a fan of his lyrics but I thought he had a great voice. Don't get me wrong, nothing against Jesse, I just preferred Howard. Oh well, life goes on and I'm sure they'll get somebody new who kicks ass.

That's too bad about Howard. When I started listening to KSE he was singing and after that I listened to them when Jesse sang. Always prefered Howard's vocals.
