XBA Metal thread |m|

Since there are so many of us that like the metal here at XbA, I figured we ought to have a thread where we can recommend bands to each other, review stuff you like, talk about shows, yadda yadda. METAL!!

I'll start off by mentioning Mainstream Resistance Cast. It's a monthly metal podcast done by two guys I know, one of them worked with me at Pi Studios testing AC/DC Rock Band, the other guy has a band called Spectral Manifest who I played bass for briefly. Until MSR Cast gets a new website, you can find their stuff at Metal Injection.

In other metal news, right now the massively successful independent documentary Until the Light Takes Us is getting a limited US theatrical release. Check the website, see if it's playing near you. If you've ever wanted to know more about black metal music but couldn't get past all the media hype and BS, this will be an interesting and engaging flick!

Good call Meta!! I be in here all the timez. Also have you heard of the bands poisonblack and sonic syndicate? Both r very solid metal bands. CHECK 'EM!

I listen to all music but I find myself listening to a lot of melodic death metal.

Ive never been one to know music down to specif genes. Personally im usually listening to things in the Metal/Alternative/Screamo etc. area

Been listing to Bring me the Horizon Lately
August Burns Red is also pretty good..

Guess Ill stick with the 2 recommendations at a time thin to avoid listing everything on my iPod

I love almost every kind of metal, but like a lot of metal core, melodic death metal, and just classic metal. My favorite bands would have to be Metallica, Mastodon, Trivium, Bullet, and Iron Maiden.

Right now though I'm digging Job for a Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, and Testament's new CD (The Formation of Damnation)

Protest the Hero is really good too, but not a lot of people know about them so if you haven't heard of them you should check 'em out.

My friend burned me a copy of Messangers from August Burns Red. It's not too bad. Did you know they are christian metal?

This is a cool idea. I'm definitely more a fan of classic metal from the 70's & 80's. There's very little new metal that I can get into, especially the shit where it sounds like the vocalists are chewing on the microphone.

Yep as well as underoatj. Good bands, both christian. Not a fan of religon in general myself, but still good music

Oh and if you want the other 2 albums worth of music They have out let me know and i could send em to you

Yes, I have an Underoath CD too, (not sure what the name of it is!) I'm the same. I don't go in search of Christian music, but I'm not adverse to it. If music is good, it's good!
