Im not sure about the rest of you but my potions go pretty quick currently, so this is a neat thing to use in a pinch after battle is over. If i get a chance to craft one im naming it Based Belt of Health.

Interesting, will keep it in mind. I have (12) potions, used to be a problem earlier in the game, but not so much recently.

What do you expect from someone who gets a few achievements in every game then stops playing them...

The health potions are a huge PITA. Until you get the perk that gives you 4 more and then it's just a medium PITA. Anyway, there should be more than one auto save to choose from, and possibly a milestone save. Also, sometimes there are potion crates nearby in tough battles. I'd go back as far as I could with saves and grind more if it was me.

The game is massive. And full of stories and side quests. There are (as with every open world rpg) times graphics and smoothness were sacrificed. The stories (relationships) are deeper than DA2, but maybe not as deep as Origins. It's a phenomenal game, though. Now I need to get back to reddit, squeeing over Cullen's romance cutscenes with the other girls.
I literally did everything you could in the hinterlands, before even touching the 2nd story mission. At around the 33% main mark, my group was lvl15 and had purple gear. Literally do EVERYTHING you can in every area, prior to more story quests, and the hard mode is a lot easier. I had zero problem for the last half of the game, and ended on lvl23, even the dragons weren't a problem.
Try loading a previous save- or another thing you could try, is to alter your party's auto-actions. You can do that in their character menu... if you stop them from using up your potions, for instance, you can save them all for yourself. The AI is pretty good, but you could have Solas cast barrier on you... like constantly whenever he can, and screw reviving everyone else, and just focus on damage. That's the only other thing I can think of, minus a new load.
Go into behaviors and set Barrier to preferred for Solas, then lower his mana threshold.
I always check the story missions and aim for the top of the spectrum, like if it says levels 12-15 then I wait until 14 at least.
The good news is that everything becomes easier when your party has more spells & abilities to work with.
Protip: grab all the elfroot you see, you'll need lots later.
My character is a rogue, and I have Dorian, Blackwall and Iron Bull. I just changed Dorian into a straight (hahaha- straight) up necromancer so that should be interesting.
Vivianne being a Knight Enchanter didn't help me so much (I was one too), and she turned out to screw over Lelianna and Cassandra, so F her. She's clearly going to be a negative person in the sequel... that's why you couldn't romance her. We're "friends" but I doubt it'll matter much. Nope. My nightmare playthrough as a woman, (I always do Bioware nightmare difficulty as a woman... I'll go Cassandra, Sera, and Dorian. Dorian's Necromancer spec, will help a lot more than Viv's did. I may replace Cassandra with Iron Bull. I like Varric a lot, but he's always been a 5th wheel, I can't afford another long-range guy (with two mages)
I sided with the Templar for that first big story mission. Afterwards I dissolved their order and brought them in to the Inquisition, and now I have declared that I am the head of a new Black Templar Order serving under the Inquisition, and decorated Skyhold in all the Templar stuff, plus their tower. My party keeps a set of Templar armor and their shield on most of the time, except when I am going to do something hard like a dragon fight.
Also, I just had to mention this. After our relationship started, Sera got my Qunari lady a gift. My character was unsure of what to get her in return, so I got a quest to ask all the other companions and inner circle. No one had any good ideas until I got to Vivienne who suggested I shave something rude in to my pubic hair and then asked me politely to fuck off.
My character confronted Sera and admitted she had trouble finding a gift, then the scene faded and we appeared in my quarters, naked, and Sera was laughing so hard at what I had done she fell off the bed and we both made the joke that our relationship was a "sign from my Qun".
I was running Iron Bull, Vivienne and Solas at first but it became redundant in a bad way having 2 2-hand warriors that don't tank and 2 mages, plus not having a rogue made me miss a lot of doors.
Second play on higher difficulty will be human male mage spec'ing as a necromancer later (they are so damned fun in MP because of Virulence) and the party will probably be Solas, Black Wall and Sera. (I like talking to Varric but don't like bringing him to fights)
I was really annoyed by Cole when I first met him so I told him to fuck off, and now I regret it cause I'll have to recruit everyone and him again in my 2nd playthrough to get the achievement.

The fact that I want to buy Inquisition on 360 just for more achievements... I appreciate your post. Sera is by far my favorite. She ties with Miranda for me. I did everything except romance her, on my hardcore play (male)-- so my usual female nightmare go-around, she's my heart. Miranda would probably win out, since Sera is (Sera), if I had a dialog option stuck to a knife, but the fact that I'd go to bat for her, (except) for that option, makes her... Sera. She has her own damn song, in the tavern. It's got covers on youTUBE. I saw some criticism that "OMG Sera is ugly". You know what? I've got like 500+hrs into Bioware games. Sera is perfectly fine. Very attractive. With a DPS that made hardcore easy, she's pretty amazing. Beautiful, actually.
