Has anybody ever read Ready Player One? I got a copy of it in my Nerd Block or Loot Crate (can't remember which) not too long ago and I've recently started reading it and I think it is pretty awesome. If you don't know what I'm talking about you should google it, def worth a read

In the Heart of the Sea. It's the true story that Melville used to write Moby Dick. It's really an incredible story and will be a movie soon

Still waiting for the next novel in the Stormlight Archive to come out so I'm on the second book of Brandon Sanderson's second Mistorn trilogy. It takes place a few hundred years after the first trilogy, during an Industrial Revolution like era where they now have firearms so it's a lot like Mistborn meets the Gunslinger. The first book is titled Alloy of Law.

I'm just finishing Darth Plagueis by James Luceno.
While it was a bit dry at first, it's been intriguing to see the machinations in galactic politics that lead up to the events of episode I. There are a lot of interesting cameos towards the end, and overall the story provides a nice survey of Sith tradition from the Old Republic on in to "canon" events depicted in the films.
I also read most of You're Never Weird On The Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day. It was fascinating reading about what was going on in her world as The Guild blew up and she suddenly burst forth from obscurity.

Star Wars: Aftermath by Chuck Wendig - I have to start by saying I did not like this author's writing style here, it seemed too modern and pedestrian to be a "canon" Star Wars book. At the same time, I enjoyed the story and really liked the particulars of the characters he created, so much so that I am now tracking down the next 2 books in what has become the 'Aftermath Trilogy'. This story takes place shortly after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and there are some well-done major character cameos that sit well beside the new characters. I would recommend this to any fans of Star Wars stories, just be aware that this isn't the same caliber as the older books, especially Timothy Zahn's.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R R Martin - I just finished this and absolutely loved it. The stories take place roughly 100 years before A Game of Thrones and follow the adventures of "Dunk," a tall hedge knight, and "Egg," his squire with a hidden significance. There is only one character in this book that is also in Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books, and I can't say who because it'd be a spoiler, but the Houses of Westeros, including many minor ones, are present and familiar. One of the best parts about this book is that Ser Duncan is the only POV character so the story doesn't jump perspectives from chapter-to-chapter, granting a nice momentum to the action and great pacing overall that builds interest immediately and doesn't stop until you finish the final page. There is a brief afterword from the author saying he has more in store for Dunk & Egg, which I am looking forward to, and I hope these stories are picked up as a movie or high-budget mini-series because I am confident the rabid Game of Thrones tv show fans would love the characters and events here. Highly recommended reading!

Sounds really great but honestly, I hope this series is picked up after the written series is completed.

I'm reading Tarkin and it's pretty good. It feels too back and forth between the story and back story. But it's good. I just ordered a bunch more of the books. Also READ THE LANDO COMIC

My kids rad through a bunch of books over the summer and they latched onto Stephan King. I explained to them a lot of his books have been turned into movies and they are never as good as the books. "As a matter of fact", I went on, "SK himself appears in every one of his movies in some small part. Kinda like 'Where's Waldo' for his fans."
Now the boys want to see every movie that came from one of his books to find him. I told him they have to read the book first then you can see the movie.

Dear Meta, go back to your candy van and I won't tell them about your fixation on the stuffed animals - especially Ms. Piggy. F-ing gross.

Finished that one a few weeks back and moved onto the third novel.
Really digging this trilogy.
