I saw it in the theater, very good war movie indeed.
Ginger Snaps - Movie came out when I was five and a scene stuck with me and I finally got to watch it. Being said it's an interesting werewolf movie. 6.5/10
Mike Tyson Mysteries - This was a pretty funny show. Glad it got renewed 7/10
American Horror Story FreakShow - Better than Coven but doesn't compare to the asylum or murder house. 7.5/10
This is a great movie for people in to time loops/paradoxes and movies that play out of sequence, ie Memento, Looper, Time Cops and so forth and such as and then. For everyone else, this movie will probably be too confusing and "talky." The twist is ... twisted. Seriously.
I Origins - 4/5 NNR
This is a complicated drama that deals with heavy subjects like science versus religion and the pain of a widow's bereavement. It also has some graphic sexy moments and the actors are all unknown to me, though by their skill I imagine they are popular in Europe or Canada or wherever it is that aliens come from that isn't Japan. Recommended to fans of What Dreams May Come, Pi, Gone Girl and anyone with an open mind and appreciation for drama.
Gone Girl - 4/5 NNR
I enjoyed this movie a great deal, but it's difficult to recommend and I can't imagine it did well in American cinemas. It is a psychological thriller and goes on perhaps a bit too long, but it does a good job exposing some of the uncommon facets of our society's mores. A bonus is the weird & engaging score/soundtrack done by Trent Reznor and the same fellow he worked with on The Social Network. I suppose I could really only recommend this to serious movie fans.
Wrong Cops - 3.5/5 NNR
This was incredibly weird but also genuinely funny. The style of humor is very dark even when pushing absurdity, but I feel it would make for a good watch to folks that enjoy comedies and are tired of the recent forced-humor crapfests that pass as "funny". Fans of Super Troopers, Reno 911: The Movie, We're the Millers, Rubber and the old sketch comedy shows like The Kids in the Hall will enjoy this.
*sidenote: Marilyn Manson actually does a great job playing a character in here.
Daryl from the Walking Dead got his start in this movie.
Thoroughly enjoyed this last night. Just an all around brilliant film. From the performances, cinematography, the score, you name it.
A little over the top for me
Aviod. There is a great story in here somewhere - this just ain't it. The sound is terrible, the cinematography is weak and the dialog (with very noticeable voice overs) is dreadful. If you are looking for a good WWII movie to spend an afternoon with, best to look elsewhere.
Foxcatcher 10/10
My kids thought it was going to be a boring movie. They really enjoyed it.
