Insidious 2 7/10 - I think this one was better than the original. The scares never felt forced. The pacing kept the tension throughout the film.

My favorite scene was the one with the cornfield, helicopters, and the facility with the bees.
This is an interesting sci-fi movie because it almost doubles as a middle east war flick. I haven't heard of the actors but the talent and production values are up there with the big-budget AAA titles so if you want some thoughtful sci-fi with some action and a lot of drama, check this out. For fans of Edge of Tomorrow, Aliens, The Fifth Element, Starship Troopers, Oblivion.
Ex Machina - 4/5 NNR
I really loved this--it starts slow but once it gets going it's very engaging and think-y. This is another film for people that like their sci-fi to be more thoughtful and philosophic than lasers and explosions. Again, I don't recognize the actors but the talent and production values are excellent. Highly recommended to fans of Blade Runner, I, Robot, The Animatrix, Under the Skin, and anything by Isaac Asimov and that sort of literature. Bonus: nice bit of graphic, non-sexual female nudity which I love!
Banshee Chapter - 2/5 NNR
This is a suspense/thriller with a little bit of sci-fi thrown in. The plot revolves around old government tests involving psychedelic compounds, and often references the MK ULTRA documents, but focusing on DMT instead of LSD. Anyway, besides a few requisite jump-scares it ends up having a cool, understated Lovecraftian vibe. My main gripe is that the pacing is bad and some elements are never really explained or even noted by the protagonists. For fans of The Fourth Kind, The Men Who Stare At Goats, and any folk who like thrillers and are convinced that our government regularly experiments on citizens.
A little slow at points, but overall a good watch.
Maniac - It's an alright horror film 6/10
Zombeavers - Fun film and funny aswell 6/10
Fear Clinic (webseries) It's a short interesting web series that Fearnet made awhile back and they came out with an actual film recently I plan to watch it soon. 6/10
Kung Fury - Awesome movie!!! Hard to explain you just gotta see it 8/10
Mercy - Not a bad horror film. Has Chandler Riggs in this aswell (Carl from walking dead) 6.5/10
Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) - It's honestly funny and pretty shitty. Not as sick as the other two either 4.5/10
A good movie with great storytelling, but not quite enough for the adults.
The family behind me loved it so bring some children for the best experience.
Highly recommend this movie, I think it was the best one of the franchise to date!

Agreed. 100000%. I don't watch many movies more than once, but the Jurassic Park movies are exceptions to that, and JW is one I already want to see again. I'm toying with getting the Lego game...

I'd give it a 9/10. Although I would give it a 10/10 if they would have
had the T-Rex and Raptor do a knuckle bump or high five at the end of the movie after taking down the Katosauraus Meta Rex or whatever it's called
Caught it on HBO tonight. Helluva shoot em up, revenge flick. Reek kills his fucking dog so Keanu goes off! Some of the baddest-ass action sequences I've seen in a while.
As Larry David would say, it was pretty, pretty, pretty... pretty good. I liked the nods to the original. Some of the best 3D effects I've seen in a while. I especially enjoyed a smoking hot Bryce Dallas Howard all hot and sweaty and disheveled.
Antonio Banderas stars in this sci fi movie. It was weird and paced strangely but overall good. Had some action but was more about drama & suspense. For fans of Ex Machina, Blade Runner, AI, The Animatrix.
Mortdecai - 3/5
Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor and a few others star in this quirky, faux-British comedy. There is some action but mostly a lot of absurdist humor, and the dialog comes in fast, frequent bursts. The story turns out to be pretty interesting and the banter is genuinely funny if you catch it. For fans of Benny Hill-style humor, the semi-recent Sherlock Holmes movies with RDJ, and Johnny Depp fans.
John Dies at the End - 3/5
This is a strange film that is part horror, part comedy, part stoner flick. It stars Paul Giamatti and is about this "recreational drug" nicknamed soy sauce that becomes involved in a series of increasingly surreal events. Most of the action is shown out of sequence and framed by a table conversation, and the plot takes an interesting turn towards the end. For fans of Evil Dead, Banshee Chapter, Cabin in the Woods, Shaun of the Dead.
Succubus: Hell Bent - 2/5
A couple of frat boy douchebags take a vacation at spring break and meet a weird lady named Lilith that turns out to be the actual Lilith from Biblical apocrypha. It's a horror movie overall, but fairly tame, both in the sex and gore departments. The actress playing Lilith is unfamiliar to me but is pretty and does a good job of the role; everything else is pretty unremarkable. For fans of the first VHS movie that want something more mediocre for some reason.
Get Hard - 3/5
Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell star in this buddy picture about a rich white guy that is framed for embezzlement and asks his small business-owning friend for help on getting ready to be incarcerated in a max security prison. The movie "goes there" pretty hard with the racist humor in a fun way that tries to show that ethnic groups and both good and bad by the actions of individuals, but it fails as much as it succeeds. I'm not a Kevin Hart fan but he does do a good job in this role, and Will Ferrell is actually a little restrained here and the character is funnier for it.
