I don't know who Rissa is but I'll give them some credit
I just thought of it when I walked into a Chipotle today and the Mexicans looked so sad

Maybe, but Mexican & Italian food make up more than 75% of the American diet.

Burgers are German, Sandwiches / Heroes / Hoggies were invented in an indoor tennis court in England. Fries I'm not too sure on, pretty sure the "French" in french fries isn't accurate- but the notion of salting potatoes seems like it's from that whole general area.
Pre-1900, yeah, European food like that dominated. Then the Italians came into NYC and exploded the food palette. Mexican food (maybe) in the last few decades. If anything, there should be more Chinese food in California, because of our close distance, but it's more Japanese with sushi all over. Chinese / Thai is plentiful, though.
But the proof is in your supermarket. Take away fruits and veggies, fish and meat. You (I assume) have dedicated aisles for 'Italian' and 'Mexican' staples. Not to mention those staples are also littered throughout the store. Pizza crust. Nachos. etc.
I'm pretty sure pizza is the #1 food in America, burgers are probably close. When you factor in all the Hispanic immigrants in our country- many of whom don't even speak English- their diet is 100% Mexican. I myself am 0% Mexican, but I still cook it. I'm happy to hear opinions, but when you factor in the population living in America, legal or not- Italian and Mexican have got to be the highest. Everyone loves a good BBQ, & old American staples- but they also take time to prepare. Fast food joints-- you've got your Pizza Huts, Taco Bells, etc. McDonalds / Burger king etc even have Mexican items, as does Subway and sandwich shops. The #1 new fast food chain in America, is Chipotle.
This discussion is also making me hungry, so I apologize in advance...

Sandwiches were invented by the Earl of Sandwich whilst playing poker. He asked for meat between bread so he wouldn't have to use silverware and could eat with one hand.

Number 1 food in America is burger-related. For someone with so many "opinions," they sure are wrong 84.39% of the time (actual statistic).
Here's another you can look over as well.

And I know actual border hoppers turned legal (cleaning crew at my company's building), their diet is definitely not even close to 50% Mexican.
I also ran your family history: you're 5.08547% Mexican.
And it's, "hoagies."

Pizza is not Italian. Pasta with red sauce is not Italian. Pizza hut, papa johns, dominos etc are not Italian food places. Taco johns, taco mac, taco bell etc are not Mexican.
Hispanic immigrants from Colombia, the Dominican republic, Brazil, Peru, cuba, Puerto Rico, etc... do not eat Mexican food.
Mexican immigrants do not eat 100% Mexican food.
California is closer to Japan than china.
Stores around here have Chinese and Jewish food in the ethnic aisle.
I hope you fact check better when you're writing a "script."
