Playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider -- while I'm not super interested in the story proper, gameplay-wise I think this might be my favourite of the rebooted Lara Croft Murder Simulators. The platforming in Shadow feels a little more freeform and risky than Rise, and much less on-rails than TRDE. The combat is also quicker and riskier, and occurs in isolated pocket bursts for the most part -- to me this feels much more appropriate for a Tomb Raider game, whereas the last 2 you were going through seemingly hundreds of bad guys between story beats.
Also, the graphics are amaze-balls. The character models aren't the best, but the plant foliage everywhere looks incredibly good and the lighting is terrific -- I think this is now the best-looking video game world I've ever played in on a console, considering the physics and water and shadows and stuff. Weirdly, Lara herself somehow looks less visually impressive than before--something about her hair and face/upper body contours seem like a step back from Rise, but maybe it just seems that way to me because the plantlife is so spectacular.
Anyway, another fun TR game, and I'm interested to see what Crystal Dynamics does next with the character.

Playing Sniper Elite 4 atm with a friend. It's our collective first entry in the series and I didn't really expect it to basically be "Hitman" inspired. I'm sneaking around killing folks, hiding the bodies in a sandbox level. Not bad. Feels kinda wrong to be killing off my Italian brethren though.
Story and presentation of said narrative is like a 4/10 but Gameplay is easily in the 8-8.5 range.

If you like the Sherlock Holmes games and Lovecraft, you'll definitely love this game. It surely captures the Lovecraftian theme very good, it feels like playing "the shadow over Innsmouth".
Funny that you mention it, I was with a few friends drinking to HPL's birthday a few days ago and playing a board game when this game came up and one of the guys had it on his laptop.
I played it for about an hour on a laptop, I was not used to the keyboard/mouse so to me it felt a little bit clunky, but then again, Sherlock Holmes games are a bit like that.
I really want to get it now, but since Gears 5 is coming in a few days I don't want to pay full price for a game I'm not going to play properly.
I'm waiting for the game to be on sale to get it (maybe October?).

So the NZ region thing worked, I've been playing Gears 5 all morning whee it's fun.
