I first saw Iron Man 2 in theater and didn't care for it, but after watching it a second time the other night on a movie channel, I actually really enjoyed it and am looking forward to 3. Apparently he is going to face the Mandarin?
I am also really looking forward to Thor Dark Planet, he's always been a favourite of mine since he's a norse god and not just a "superhero", the guy they have playing him (chris hemsworth i think?) does a good job.

Both of those guesses are correct. On another note, there's a Blu-Ray box set on the way (if it's not out already) of the phase one movies from Marvel -- has Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and The Avengers; with replica props from each film and a preview of the new movies.

yip, iron man goes up against mandarin (kingsley) in IM3, also we get to see the patriot (same guy as the last movie, they use the patriot instead of the war machine) and a TON of extra iron man suits, it shoud be epic.
as for the BR box set, i would highly reccomend this set if you have just started your collection of marvel or are switching to blu-ray, it has all the marvel heros in the box set that were in the avengers in their solo films and you get the avengers movie, a ton of extra features and some sweet swag to go along with it, i think the price was over 100 bucks on amazon but the pre orders were backed up, check it out if your a hardcore fan of marvel or the avengers.

Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerI do believe we should also expect to see Resuce (pepper's armor) and the Extremis Virus which literally allows Tony to control technology with his mind. I'm insanely excited to say the lesast

i liked the anime version but it just felt weird, it was funny to see half the heros look all emo though
i liked the art on it and the orher marvel anime series like the wolverine and iron man, iron man's anime makeover was probably the best out of the group, couldn't sit through the wolverine anime (wasn't blum as the lead voice, you can download crackle (app) and catch all three of the shows free, if you have netflix you should check out iron man extremis, it's a motion comic but the story is bad ass, also on netflix is the avengers: earth's mightiest heros, a great show they cancelled for a upcoming reboot.
EDIT: just got done watching the final chapters of the astonishing x-men on netflix, i have to say even not being a huge motion comic fan the story was great, i loved the real personas wheadon brought to the team in the story arc, i almost pissed myself when they went through the whole emma frost being controlled by nova thing was going on, really great stuff, if anyone is intrested in wheadon's stuff or the x-men then you should check this great series out.

So after watching today's RDJ interview about retiring the Iron Man character. I sense he is getting extremely bored. Either that or he is totally bending them over a barrel sense he's pretty much the only actor they can't easily replace. As the most bankable lead out of the avengers it's hard to imagine them replacing him like they did Edward Norton or Terrance Howard. While Iron Man IV is dead, I think he will show for Avengers II to either kill off the character or make a extended cameo. Which is what I think Christian Bales capacity will be in future Batman movies.

RBJ? You mean RDJ?
And what're you talking about with 'retiring' the Iron Man character? That better not be anytime soon! The Avengers would be extremely boring without him, IMO.

Yeah RDJ. His contract expires after Iron Man III and he's been saying for weeks he's getting tired of doing the same character and probably won't extend it. Plus he got injured filming III. He will probably do Avengers II, get another 50 million dollar paycheck and call it quits.
Edit: I hope he does another Sherlock Holmes as well. But he's never been a fan of sequels anyway. Except for rehab!

So Robert Bowney Jr then?
I think without him the Avengers would be extremely bland unless they widened the cast, Captain America is very meh on his own, Thor is good, Hulk is pretty one dimensional while being the actual Hulk, and the other characters aren't really worthy of caring about them in a spotlight role (Hawkeye, Black Widow), just my opinion though.
Edit- I love him as Sherlock Holmes so I hope they do another as well (I've heard the third will be out this Christmas).

Chris Evans was a terrible Captain America but a passable Human Torch. Marc Ruffalo is nothing but a poor stand in for Edward Norton. Hemsworth (Thor) is a relatively new face and can't carry a ensemble cast. Hawkeye and Black Widow are secondary characters. They will have to replace Downey and I don't see Don Cheadle filling that void.
Edit: They will also likely bring in the new Spiderman (Andrew Garfield) into the Avengers at some point. But this is not necessarily a good thing.

NO, not at all, I don't even think Cheadle is that great as War Machine/Iron Patriot? now

Am I the only one disappointed as **** Iron Patriot is not Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) like he's supposed to be? I can see William Dafoe leading the "Dark Avengers" vs "New Avengers" as a excellent plot for the movie.

I haven't followed comics in a LONG time, but I've heard about that story line and it DOES sound great, it's a shame they can't tie Spider-man into the universe anytime soon. Also, in the new Iron Man 3 trailer is that a hulk buster armor that plows through the cargo box towards the end of the trailer? Or just a big prototype style armor?

Well it looks like his crew is suiting up. Pepper is getting a suit. Whether it's her actual comic book variant (Rescue) IDK. I would not be surprised if that "Melee" suit is Happy Hogan aka John Favreau. It does look like the Hulk Buster though!
