Diablo III is a rarity among PC ports. It's actually better on console. I have beaten it on both and the difference is night and day. As for playing the previous entries you will indeed be missing part of the story. Fortunately the story has never been why the series was fun. You will enjoy it either way.

not really they fill you in on what happened in previous game, plus the story is garbage anyway. the real draw is the gameplay and getting more loot.
