I think the ending makes up for any misgivings I had with the story early on. We'll never have that feeling we had when riding the bathespere down to Rapture for the very first time again. I think they still did a good job of creating a completely seperate story from the first.

Bioshock 2 9/10, could have been a 10 if the multiplayer wasn't so bugged, laggy, and glitchy. Tekken 6 before i started up B2 6/10, im not that fond of fighting games.

Last game I played was SpongeBob Truth or Square and I would give it 5 out of 10

I agree with Mudkip. To me, a 10/10 just means that it does a perfect job of doing what it tries to do. For instance, BioShock to me is a 10 because it's a perfectly executed story-driven shooter. I'd call the original Forza a 10/10 for a driving game (the sequel I'd say a 9 because the graphics were a bit behind the rest of it; I haven't played the 3rd).

I don't think a game can be "perfect" because an actual perfect would be like 11/10, or every one that played it would enjoy it whether it's their preferred genre or not, or if they're even a gamer or not. There's always something that holds a game back from this. WoW is almost the perfect MMO but it's kind of simple and repetitive. Uno is excellent multiplayer with good presentation and intuitive playability but it sucks single player for most people. These are the kinds of things that "would" be perfect if perfect were possible.

Till then, I think using 10/10 as "as good as it can be expected to be" is alright because if there's never going to be a 10/10, why use a 10 point scale?

8's are generally accepted as a Must Play
9's are a Must Buy
and 10's are "Perfect" games

game sites and magazines hardly ever use 10's. but people on this site throw 10's around like they are 7's. i dont get it i've noticed scores in the rate the last movie/game threads are very liberal, and i hate it. i'm very conservative with my scores and so are most of the established rating institution.

i'll repost this next part in the movie thread as well....

I tend to use the 5 point scale because that is what netflix uses, and it is a much more confining scale. you figure on a 10 point scale you have 20 different ratings 1,1.5,2,2.5 so on and so forth. so i use the 5 point scale and this is generally how i rate movies...

1-Hated it! Not worth watching, will never see again, ever!
2-Disliked it. Maybe it's worth the watch, but only once.
3-Okay. Has good parts, might buy it or watch it again.
4-Really good. Gonna buy it and watch again maybe a few times a year.
5- Loved it! Great movie, simply one of the best, Must buy it, and watch over and over.

just because something is a must buy does not make it a 10. and the term perfect is generalized. you can have a PERFECT game even with flaws. a Perfect at bat is a grand slam, but you can hit a grand slam 400 feet or 500 feet, therefore someone could say b.c. it wasnt 500 feet that is is flawed, but it's perfect at bat nonetheless

Well it's all arbitrary, but the difference to me is that if everyone is willing to hand out a 10 because they are positive that perfect can't be achieved, then I don't feel that I can take the rating seriously.

If publication A hands out 10s to every game that is passable with a few flaws, I can't help but dismiss their reviews. Sorry, if 10 is the top of your scale, then you are effectively stating that a game that gets a ten is the best that a game can be. Flaws should be deductions. I have never played a true 10.
