i grew up in a time when there really was no rap to be heard of. i think the first "rap" i heard was Run Dmc/ Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" which, in my opinion, was much better than any C-rap that is out there today. to me, it's comical and i don't take rap seriously.

I don't have the patience to read this thread but here is my two cents:
Rap is as diverse & engaging a musical genre as any other--that is to say, it is filled with sub-genres that convey an eclectic variety of expressions while maintaining a consistency that allows them to be appreciated by most anyone with both the ear and attention span for music.
Interested but uninformed parties should consult some of my favourites: Makaveli, older Three 6, and the soundtrack for Murder Was the Case.
Uninterested and uninformed parties should be careful opening their mouths too wide lest they expose the emptiness within their heads

i personally think rap been resurrected. Rappers like Wale, The Cool kids, Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton, Hollywood Holt and Kid Cudi. I dont think rap is dead anymore thanks lil wayne and soulja boy for killing it.
Note lil wayne started killing when he started using autotune then everyon joined in.

Rap is nowhere close to being resurrected, but it still has a small heartbeat. The whole rap world is dominated by fags like Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and his lil crew), the "superman high" fags. All the dumb hype songs....thats all that shit is. And every time a true artist is on the horizon they get snatched up by lil 80 pound wayne, and do a horrible song, and the get forgot about.
I can name 20+ underground rappers that deserve the fame of lil wayne or a soulja thingy.

Let me start by saying that Eminems new album was absolute trash....the beats were alright, but his overall lyrics and choice of using that stupid fake accent throughout the whole album ruined the experience and made it seem like he had no real interest in making a serious album...
Second of all...Mainstream rap is absolute re-hashed garbage! Underground is where the real stuff is, things like Wordsworth, Murs, Felt, Atmosphere, almost anything on the Rhyme Sayers label, and a lot of other....the mainstream garbage is pointless beats set on repeat for drunk idiots at bars/clubs, and the teens to dance to...
