Saying marijuana causes schizophrenia is a complete lie, though--nothing "causes" schizophrenia. You either have it or you don't, and there are certain factors that can make it show up earlier or later in life.
The huge problem with any serious debates about the properties of cannabis and its effect on humans is that there are some serious biases on both sides of the issue and the simple truth is that hard scientific facts are few and far between.
You can say smoking weed is bad for you therefore you shouldn't do it--this is a gross simplification but if you don't want to smoke it, that's all the justification you'd need. Candy bars and chips are bad for you therefore you shouldn't eat them--this is the same logic.
You can also say smoking weed relaxes you, helps your mood, reduces anxiety, isn't "as bad" as alcohol or Xanax--again, these are oversimplifications but if you want to smoke it they are enough to justify it for you.
I personally feel like the decriminalization of possessing and using small amounts of it is an important step in focusing the retarded "war on drugs" and using funds and force where they are put to better use, but I feel like everything else about cannabis is up to personal choice.
I only get pissed when I am not allowed to make a personal choice on something and instead have people in another state I'll never meet writing laws that decide for me.
