Edit: They should do a 4-player co-op multiplayer mode where your group is made up of your friends...I think it could work. It's always scripting events anyway, and when your friends log off their characters can revert back to NPC's.
They might be adding co-op in the future. No official yes or no on co-op though, but it's something they've always wanted to add to SoD, but didn't have the room and/or space for it.

Yeah we discussed that earlier in the thread. I'm just curious as to how they will implement it if they do so.

So I got to the wilkersons mission and my weapon broke and I had no ammo and died with Marcus and now I'm pretty pissed and it seems like I'd be better off restarting the game.

You don't really need Marcus. The game is designed around the fact your going to lose people. But I can definitely understand sentimental attachment. I'd be pretty mad if I lost Maya right now. Only this and Xcom can make you heartbroken about dying in a video game.

I have not seen anyone post this yet but if you are far from home and don't want to travel all the way home simply save and exit. You will load back up in the safety of your home base. Don't do this while on a mission or carrying a ruck sack as both will be forfeit.
A much easier method (If you have made friends) is to open up your menu and switch to another avatar. The previous survivor will return home and you can continue with another mission almost seamlessly. If you are carrying a ruck sack it will be dropped in the location you initiated the switch.
I would also like to point out that it's not immediately obvious you can switch characters without talking to them. Doing so in the menu has many advantages like this one.

Well, by reading my post you could easily see that I ran OUT of ammo and my weapon BROKE leaving me with just fisticuffs against 100 zombies and a giant fat zombie, leading to my demise
I also didn't know you could take your teammates with you on missions to help out? Is there any disadvantage to doing that? Also, how often do you switch out your characters to do missions? I was using Marcus the entire time with no switches.

Most people train 2 characters. I recommend 3.

Apparently Microsoft screwed up the patch application. While it's been downloaded it's currently not affecting your game. The devs are trying to get Microsoft to fix it.

When you find an area that you want an outpost and set it up will it collect the resources in the building also? And do runners find all the resources in the location or just the specific one you radioed for?
