Am I the only one who feels like I spent $60 on an expansion? I'm not super far into it yet- just got powers- but it doesn't feel fleshed out as its own game in the slightest. Does this change as you play more?

Yeah I felt that way at first. It gets better. They give you powers way too early.

The opening is quite poor. I felt like I got shoved in the virtual steelport and inexplicably gained hacked powers from the last SRIII DLC with little more to do then insurance fraud and scavenger hunts. However after getting through the initial portions the game my opinion changed. It actually became somewhat of a challenge. I found SRIII extremely easy and the enemies laughable. Here we have a plethora of dangerous enemies that can give you real problems. The Terminator inspired robots alone can be a pain before you're fully powered up.

The story and crew related missions separate it from III in both tone and variety. The loyalty missions especially flesh out the characters which is something III did a poor job of IMO. It also has a much much better finale then the previous three games. Much more then a expansion but I definitely agree the sidequest variety is lacking. Basically the exact same missions we played before with a super power twist. Oh and the twist is they are much easier.

Definitely all this.

Personally I like that they give you jump and sprint so early, but I can understand the argument of feeling it's too early.

The difficulty in this one seems far more even. I felt like 3 fluctuated a lot on its Medium difficulty--a lot of stuff was easy but it could get weird difficulty spikes. The devs sort of addressed it by letting you change difficulty at any time without it affecting progress or Achievements, but I feel like it is all better in 4 because it doesn't spike too much. Hard actually feels like a challenge once you start fighting murderbots in groups and the droideka things, so it encourages you to actually switch weapons and call in homies, and Easy actually stays pretty easy if you just like the story and mayhem.

And yeah, the sidequests and misc challenges make it feel very much like an expansion pack, but I think the main story and rescue & loyalty missions redeem this as a full game.

I decided to start playing this again today to knock out the challenges. I have just 2 left, but the damn game won't stop freezing my Xbox. It froze once during a save and it didn't corrupt my save, thank god. I started running towards my final super hero fight and I hit a building, the screen went white and it said "The Saints need you in Steelport" and froze up. Errrrr......let me finish my damn game! I will say that the mini games are 10000000x easier on the easiest setting. Also does an audio recording play EVERY single time you start your game up too?

*EDIT only things I have to do now is play the game for 40 hours and fly this dumb alien ship around. I'm at 30 hours now and the way things are going it's going to take me the last 10 hours to fly this around. What a stupid challenge.

30 Wardens aren't too bad. Just go to the military island to get your level up faster. Taunting is pretty easy too. Took me a while to figure out that you have to hold right on the D pad to taunt. Have fun with the flying.

I just now got the flying challenge completed. Only took me almost 5 hours of flying in circles for it to unlock. Only thing left is the 40 hours. Which now I only have 5 1/2 hours left. Might just let the Xbox run all night or just do what I was doing earlier and let it sit while I play Diablo on the PC.
