She has a good point. I'm sure it sucks right now, but you're a young dude and can do way better for yourself I'm sure. I just hope you don't make the mistake of staying with her or taking her back. So I turned on my 360 elite this morning and got a "System Failure" screen. I turned it off and back on and it froze when I selected my avatar and signed in. I then unplugged the power cord waited two minutes and it seems to be working fine now. Is this foreshadowing impending doom for my console or am I overeacting?

See this is what you think about doing.
Have her sit at table with you, with both of you at each end.
Pull out a weapon of your choice (recommend a glock 40) and lay it on the table
Then say, "I have a question to ask and I want an answer...are you cheating on me?"
If she says No, then grab the gun and drop the clip, revealing you have rounds in it, and pop a bullet out and then reload the clip.
Play with the bullet you just popped out and reveal your evidence and then ask the same question, "Are you cheating on me?"
Then if she reveals, tell her it is over and leave, but then if she says No, this is what you do...
Shoot out a silhouette of her, NOT hitting her and then just sit there with a straight face. Drop the clip and reload the one bullet you have.
Then say, "the next shot won't miss."
Ask her the same question and then most likely she will reveal what she did.
Just grin and leave...
Then just snap out of it and realize you haven't done shit and deal with it in a more proper and realistic manner. Something that won't get you in trouble...like talking. Lol

I had 4...so maybe I got lucky.
The first batch of Elites have the same chipset as the second generation of white 360s, so being an Elite doesn't necessarily change anything. You'd need to check the manufacture date. I got an Elite on day 1 and It red ringed in less than a year.
On to your query. 4 red rings and system failure screen are two different things. System failure will have a code such as e74 which is a common error code with freezing Xboxes. System error will also display 1 red quadrant.
4 rings, like you said in your post, means your A/V or HDMI cable is unplugged, loose or doesn't work. It can also be a sign that your power supply is failing. So if you get 4 rings again, be sure to check that everything is plugged in properly and tight and check the light on your power brick. It should be amber when not powered on and green when you turn on your console.
If you get the System Error screen again, check the e-code and look to see if it is just the bottom right hand quadrant blinking red.
If your 360 is freezing before even trying to boot up a game, I'm afraid that the news is not going to be good.
