LOFL I was thinking of that exact family guy joke too.
It's annoying but funny to me how often random jokes remind me of specific FG gags.
Esoteric faiths and religions generally get filed under "metaphysics" and/or "occult science" and don't show up in most recognized curriculum.
...but I wish they did. Really neat stuff. Sepher Yezirah and Clavicula Solomonis are excellent.
