Does the hard drive have its own power source? I know on the WiiU they recommend your USB drive plug into its own power, for performance issues, the Xbox One may be similar, or you could try reformatting the drive, something may have cropped up the first time.

I know that there was an article saying your HD had to be over a certain size and have its own power source to work properly.

I caved and bought a Wii U tonight. I got the Mario & Luigi bundle which comes with New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Luigi U. I bought Mario Kart 8 separately and am going to get Bayonetta 2 and Donkey Kong Country Tropical whatever ASAP.
I was going to do the Kart bundle but I said ah fuck it, I want both of those Mario platformers and I will wait on getting Super Mario World 3D later.
So far loving it. I like how the game pad functions as a second/touch screen and junk. Plus omfg Mario Kart has never looked better and played smoother.
