We don't censor things here and we're very lenient about content so of course this means from time to time anonymous shitheads or new/infrequent members will post some huge poop-porn pic in a thread that keeps getting bumped. If a bunch of people neg it it will be caught very quickly by even the most aloof, apathetic staff members cough AJ cough.

The up is simply to put something positive there instead of just a pile of negs. You say get rid of it the same as probably a hundred people before you and each of those people were shut down. Jackson wanted it, Jackson added it, and Jackson has told every person that has said that it needs to go that they can stuff it. It's not going away.

The up is there for the site to act like grown ups and self monitor. Knowing that a post with 3 or more negs will flag it for the mods to review, the site members could act responsibly and give it a positive to cancel out negative votes and stop wasting staff time, and help out their buddies so they don't have mod action taken against them. Theoretically, the + should only be used if there is a -.
The jokes on all y'all though, we don't even care. You guys act like babies and shit all over the system- "waaah, I got a downvote, I'm going to downvote everyone else!" "Waah, he's a poopyhead, I'm going to flag that post," and now the downvotes aren't even used for moderation anymore. One day, someone is going to post hugely disgusting scat porn that you will be begging us to remove and ban the offender and it won't happen. You guys will have cried wolf too much.

To clarify, if that sounded too harsh, I much preferred the report button and hated this system since it was implemented. I was vocally against it, but overridden, and years later it's still in place. And I neg people to troll on occasion.
Because I like scat porn obviously.
