Amazon is the only place I pre-order anymore. I've never had a problem with it. And a lot of games you can get $10 amazon credit back too.

So there's nothing else wrong with it? It boots up and runs games and all? Did the fans cut out while you were in the middle of a game or when you turned it on they just didn't come on? Your slim should shut down before it gets to a dangerous temperature.

Boots up and runs fine. No air flow comes from the vent from the time I boot it up. It hasn't shut down on me when I've played a game.

Alright. I'm not 100% sure as I can't look at it, but I would guess that a 5v resistor has gone bad. When your 360 is cool and running low use applications, the fans run at a lower power and when the CPU/GPU heats up and works harder, the fan power ramps up 12v to help keep the chip cool.
I'm not actually an electrician, so I'm not sure exactly how it works as far as if it breaks the circuit the fans won't work period, or if you heat up the chip the fans might come on at full 12v only. This is just a theory and the only way you could tell is to really heat your console up, but that is just a bad idea and I would never recommend that! lol
If I'm correct about losing the 5v circuit, then there might be something you can do if you are willing to crack your console open. The fan is connected to the motherboard with a white Molex connector. It has 4 wires, a yellow, blue, black and red wires. If you cut or disconnect the yellow and blue wires, your fans will run at 12v constantly. It will be louder, but a lot of people do this just to keep their slim as cool as possible and power saver be damned!
These are a lot of ifs, but it sounds like a power to the fan problem and not the actual fan itself.

Thanks for the help. I'll may end up trying to open up the console and disconnect the 2 wires. I'll probably try that in the next few days. Thanks again.

I just won a blog contest on TA and my reward is 2100 MSP, however they are UK based points. I don't think I can redeem them on my Canadian account so my question is, can I create a UK based gamertag with a silver membership to redeem the points and buy stuff.
I'm pretty sure that I will be able to, I already did this once for a US based gamertag, but thats still in North America. Not sure how it changes across the pond.

Yes you can. I've done it with Japanese and Korean accounts.
Edit: and German ones too...
One of my neighbors got screwed over for this. He played a game I bought, so he didn't own the rights.
Quote by AJ:
But its still downloaded to my console so I would still have the licenses for the games. Wouldn't that be like the same thing as me going to the UK, recovering my account on someones xbox and playing one of their games?
