So I'll put this saga under random gaming because it's more gaming related than anything. π
Before I went to bed this morning, I decided to check snes classic stock at a bunch of places. I noticed GameStop had it listed as in stock so I tried to buy it. Omg their website was ridiculous. It froze for 10 minutes trying to load the cart and check out, didn't recognize my password, and when I finally got everything ready, it pulled the thing out of my cart and said it adjusted my cart for their stock numbers. I was frustrated, but then I remembered thinkgeek was planning to sell some as well. I got there around 2:15 am, and at 2:30 the orders went live and the site started doing the EXACT SAME THING. The pages kept timing out and had to be refreshed, but after 10 minutes of fighting, I was finally able to check out and get to the paypal page. I flew through paypal because the site isn't a pos like the others, but when I went back to thinkgeek, the sale wouldn't finalize and it said "site error."
This was crazy. I tried again for a few minutes, but then the console was showing up as "sold out." I stopped for a second and thought "I'm seriously about to have a kid, this isn't the most important thing I could do with my money," so I sent a whiny text to Evol about how I hate Nintendo, then went to bed.
I woke up to a purchase confirmation email from thinkgeek! Apparently they fixed my order or whatever so it went through! I'm SOOOO excited now- but no clue when it will get here. π So that's my SNES Classic purchase saga- hopefully the order doesn't get canceled or whatever other shenanigans people are having pulled on them! I'd love to have it right now, but that would have required lining up before stores opened and I have kids to get to school! π
Chances are the site(s) were being so slow because of all the other traffic that was trying to do the EXACT same thing (buy the snes classic). You can actually crash servers if you get enough traffic doing the same processes, think of a DDoS attack (distributed denial of service). Look it up if you don't know what it is

Agreed. IMAX tickets for The Last Jedi are more important.
But only slightly.

Oh, for sure. I'm pretty sure I was fighting all those bot programs that spam the site over and over until they can purchase an item. Although, in this case that might work against them if there was some kind of queue that refreshing would screw up.

Hahaha there's a reason I'm having my parents stay with us all of November and December! That's the only way I'll get to see that since she'll be like- 2 weeks old when it opens!!! IMAX, huh? Think that's the way to go over just 3D?

I'd love one but theres no way i was fighting in or on line for one. I finally got a switch a few weeks ago they actually had 3 in stock in the store the day i went to order one from the store to avoid shipping fees

There is, think of a chat site with thousands of users pressing F5 at once

Same here, it's hard not to love it even as it crushes me.
Also I beat Gone Home on the highest difficulty -- maybe not the biggest brag in the world, but that game was no walk in the park.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerIt was a walk in the house...

Thinking about buying a couple season passes for telltale games (as they're cheaper than per episode) are the minecraft and GoT ones worth it?

I loved the Borderlands one. Followed by The Walking Dead series. I'd really like to try out the Batman one.

Pub Games for Fable 2 is backwards compatible. I know I bought it, played and completed it. Now I can't find it in my purchase history - which only goes back to 2013, nor can I find it in my download history.
I really don't want to buy this game again....

The Batman one is pretty good. I got the 1st episode free then bought the season pass for 14.99
