Does he have the option to fight himself?
He could if he really wanted to but he knows that would mean certain death as he wouldn't stand a chance against any real swordsman.

How would that be a good idea? Either way he loses! Plus, I doubt Cersei would appoint him champion for the other side...

He has the right to choose a champion since dwarfism is considered a handicap. If I were him, I would choose Cersei. Lol

He would always be allowed to choose a champion. The champion has to agree though.

Yeah, I was kidding about Cersei. She is technically in the same boat as Tyrion as a woman.
Bronn and Tyrion are buddies because of trial by combat. This isn't Tyrion's first rodeo! Lol

Oh yeah- you're having so much fun stuck in your 2nd year of high school along with your sense of humor for the last 19 years. :/

For reals yo! Whether you like Cersei or not, you have to give her props. Bitch perseveres.

Back to Tyrion Snap. He and any other noble man or woman has the right to trial by combat and the right to choose a champion if they are unable to fight or if they're just chickenshit. And as we already saw in season one, Tyrion would stand no chance against any lord's champion. He knew the only way he was gonna leave the Eyrie alive was if Bronn or one of the other mercs fought for him.

I know he can pick a champion I've watched the show and that wasn't my question. I merely asked if he is allowed to be his own champion and fight.

Right? How is that even a question? Like they'd say "no, man, no... You need to choose someone who would last 10 minutes." He can also stab himself instead of fighting, but I can't imagine he'd do it.
They are not allowed to say no to anyone he chooses as his champion, whether it's himself, Tommen or the Hound- as long as the champion agrees. Since they believe the side who is correct will win through divine intervention, it doesn't matter how he stacks the deck. Their belief is that he can only win if he's innocent, and he cannot win if he's guilty.
The exception would be royalty- kings, queens, etc. They must either fight for themselves or choose from the kingsguard.
