Game of Thrones: The Game Reactions/Discussions

As a huge fan of the novels and the show, I cannot wait for the release of this game next Tuesday. This will actually be the first new game I get on day one since Skyrim. I look forward to exploring the kingdom of Westeros but what excites me most is the fact that there's going to be four different possible endings depending on the decisions you make throughout the game so there should be plenty of replay value. I know we already have a Game of Thrones thread but I figured we'd keep that for discussing the novels and the show and let this thread concentrate on the game.

I am definitely going to grab it. Even if the gameplay is mediocre, I frackin' love RPG's and I felchin' love Game of Thrones.

Plus Daenerys is my girlfriend so it's all good cool hey!

I'm not going anywhere near this till I get some reviews. Might be mediocre garbage like LOTR:War in the North.

You really disliked War in the North that much? I'm surprised. I know it isn't a top-tier game or anything, but the 2 roommates and I played through it co-op and it was pretty dang fun. What was it you disliked so much?

agreed, it was 100x better in coop.

Oh yes? What was the coop like? Split screen or online coop? Do all players get achievements?

There was split screen and coop, i don't think at the same time though, everyone got the achievements as well which was nice.

Side Note: I just finished season 1 and starting season 2 of Game of thrones, hopefully i'm caught up by time the game releases on tuesday!

Just got back with my copy a lil bit ago but haven't started it yet. I have to give the dudes at our local GameStop props today. They gave me the collector book that was included with the pre-orders even though I didn't reserve mine. They apparently had so many that they're giving em to anyone who came in to get the game today. I also grabbed a Prima guide since they were 20% off.

I cancelled my pre-order once the review was out. The guy at Gamestop said that was a good call because of how bad the game turned out. Seeing that the game has been in development for 7 years it would have turned out better. I'll wait till it's in the bargain bin.

I enjoy RPGs and love me some Game of Thrones, but IGN's paltry 4/10 rating and several other bad reviews will make me hold off on this one. I really wanted it to be good, and while I'm sure it's not as bad as many sites are making it out to be, I'm definitely going to hold out for a budget price on this one. Combine mediocre gameplay with the fact that it's releasing the same day as Max Payne and I think we will see $20 before too long.

Presentation - 6.5
The story is the one thing that stands out in the game, but it’s surrounded by lazy voice acting, and poorly textured environments.

Graphics - 3.5
The main characters have some impressive armor, but others look like little to no effort was put forth in their creation.

Sound - 4
Aside from the music track used in the HBO series, there’s little else to remember here. Dialogue is delivered with little conviction at times and sounds will occasionally cut out.

Gameplay - 6
At moments it feels incredibly repetitive, but the combat keeps the intensity up by using slow-down to keep you on edge. There are also dialogue moments in the game that have you make major decisions that impact your outcome.

Lasting Appeal - 4
Aside from going back to an earlier save to see an alternate ending, there is little reason to return to the game. The only reason it will sit with you is if you finish all 15 chapters to see the surprising conclusion.
