Seems to me like the only real purposes for the bank are to keep alternate sets of weapons, shields and class mods for when you are at or near level cap and want to re-spec your character. Like say if you're the Gunzerker and you want to change from a tanking co-op build to a solo damage build.
The other purpose would be if you just get a really neat piece of unique gear you want to show or give to others.
Not much function for the bank when you're lower levels I suppose, spend Eridium on SDU upgrades for now.

Maybe I'm just too low a level (16), but thus far i'm not finding very much higher level loot, so the bank seems worthless?
Claptrap's stash is what allows me to switch items between characters, but is there any other purpose for the bank? Trying to figure out what value there really is in expanding the number of slots in the bank...
The bank works the same as claptraps stash. You can use it to transfer items between your characters, with a much greater capacity.

. I didnt know that the banked worked that way but if this is true then it kind of makes claptraps stash pointless.
Yeah, not sure what purpose claptrap's stash serves if this is true... Other than being a hilarious quest.
Can anyone confirm this?

I guess his stash is just 4 extra spaces. But yea, the bank in the Crimson Raiders HQ allows you to transfer items just like the stash. And once you start a new character, when you're in claptraps place at the beginning of the game (before his eye is ripped out) there is a bank there where you can get your items.

Oh now that is super handy, didn't know about the bank at the beginning.
Gives me an idea: Make a smurf character and get to sanctuary ASAP, use the Gold Chest while you're still a low level, then throw those items in the bank so they're available for your next character.
Probably can't even set foot into sanctuary until at least level 7, with all the storyline quests... Anyone tried this?

claptrap's stash is the only bank you can use between your saves, the bank vault is there so you can save anything you want,also you might find a bad ass gun or mod you can't use past a certan level so you want to save it for another of your saves, simply switch your bank items around with the CT stash depending on what works for you when you need it.
@r4wr sh4rk- after you gain access to the eridium dealer you can purchase more slots in your bank,backpack and extra ammo so you bound to find some use for all that space.

I could have sworn that I've used a bank vault right at the beginning of the game... Maybe its only in Co-op, but I know I've used it before. I'll do some testing to see if I can figure it out...
EDIT: Ok I figured it out.
The bank vault only shows up at claptraps place once you are in True Vault Hunter Mode.
Also, I was wrong, you can't transfer items between your characters by using the bank vault. Sorry for any confusion I have caused.

...and here I was getting excited over nothing. *le sigh* Thank you though, my original question totally got answered, so mission accomplished.
