Almost finished with this [The Dark Tower 1]. Several people raved about this series so I am starting it up. I really like it so far but maybe had too high expectations.
The series gets better, trust me. It becomes very bizarre and enjoyable to read.
I honestly didn't expect such dubious criticism from someone with Saly's Salon in their recently played list...
Sallys Salon is hardcore.....

I've wanted to tease you about the game for days...
Edit: On topic, has anyone read the Alan Wake book? I saw it the other day for a reasonable price but didn't want to get my hopes up too much.

I finished Mistborn tonight and loved it but before I continue that trilogy
I want to finish another:
The final volume of The Strain Trilogy which finally came out a few weeks ago.

True dat. The Drawing of the Three (book 2) will always be my favorite followed closely
by Wizard & Glass (book 4).

Pretty good so far. Got this for my wife for her birthday. Its kinda Dexterish.
Unattributed Quote:
John Wayne Cleaver is dangerous, and he knows it.
He’s spent his life doing his best not to live up to his potential.
He’s obsessed with serial killers, but really doesn’t want to become one. So for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules he’s written for himself, practicing normal life as if it were a private religion that could save him from damnation.
Dead bodies are normal to John. He likes them, actually. They don’t demand or expect the empathy he’s unable to offer. Perhaps that’s what gives him the objectivity to recognize that there’s something different about the body the police have just found behind the Wash-n-Dry Laundromat---and to appreciate what that difference means.
Now, for the first time, John has to confront a danger outside himself, a threat he can’t control, a menace to everything and everyone he would love, if only he could.
Dan Wells’s debut novel is the first volume of a trilogy that will keep you awake and then haunt your dreams.
Edit: After finishing this I take back the Dexter comparison. Still a reall good book.

Abner Marsh has had his wish come true - he has built the Fevre Dream, the finest steamship to sail the Mississippi. Abner hopes to race the boat some day, but his partner is making it hard for him to realise his dreams. Joshua York put up the money for the Fevre Dream, but now rumours have started about his the company he keeps, his odd eating habits and strange hours. As the Dream sails the great river, it leaves in it's a wake one too many dark tales, forcing Abner to face down the man who made his dreams become reality.
I love the Fire and Ice series so I saw this book by George RR Martin and am going to give it a shot. I seems really good so far.
