the awakening- great adult horror film, i say adult since the film feel way more mature than most horror movies out today,it has some scares that manage to get you even if you know somethings about to happen, 3.5/5, a great adult horror flick, perfect for that late night with a friend.
the last house at the end of the street- a simple suspense/horrorr flick that can manage to get you on the edge of your seat (but imo) dosn't make you jump off it. another suspense with a meh story that depends on the cast to pull it through, luckily the cast was really good and the movie turned out a solid renter, 3.5/5.
the factory-really good suspense /thriller that is right up your alley if you liked silence of the lambs or kiss the girls, cusack was great, and a HUGE suprise that will drop your jaw and have you wondering how you missed it,4/5
The Faculty - 3.5/5 Not a bad teen "horror" Campy but enjoyable

Rise of the Guardians (Blu-Ray) – I heard that this was The Avengers for a younger crowd, so I knew I had to give it a chance. It’s one of the most visually impressive blus I’ve seen, and the animation is top quality too. It brought a bit of nostalgia up for me; I miss the good old days where I believed in the Easter Bunny, Santa, Tooth Fairy, etc. If you want to watch something cute and light, give this a try.
6.5/10
Hart’s War (DVD) – a POW courtroom drama set during WW2? Yes, probably one of the strangest concepts I’ve seen translated to film. It’s essentially an escape film, though. Farrell and Willis both turn in decent performances, but it’s not enough to make it memorable. I’m sure this time next week I’ll have a hard time reciting any of the minor details. Has some brief flashes of direction, but it just mostly floats around for its 2 hours.
4/10
The International (DVD) – a little too convoluted for its own good, and there’s no real character development, but it’s still a decent thriller. I have a hard time believing that something on this scale would be possible, but it’s a movie. There was a shootout scene in the last 30 minutes or so that really stood out, almost on par with Heat’s famous scene.
5.5/10
The Fifth Element (DVD) – I’m sure there’s very little explanation needed for my reasoning for giving this a solid score. It may not be the most intelligent movie, but the humor and fun factor are dialed in. I must confess I had never actually seen it all the way through, but it’s definitely one of those movies I could see myself watching frequently. I was very hesitant to watch this, as the person who recommended it to me also suggested 12 Monkeys (about a 3 or 4 in my book), but they were successful this time.
7.5/10
Zero Dark Thirty (Blu-ray) – I’ve been waiting for this one quite some time, and I wasn’t disappointed or wowed. I thought all of the main characters were good, and the 150 minute runtime doesn’t drag. There’s A LOT of back-story, so the operations surrounding Neptune Spear only comprise the last 30 minutes or so. I think I probably liked Hurt Locker better, but this is still a good movie.
7.5/10
Sinister (Blu-ray) – I’m usually impressed with Ethan Hawke, and the concept seemed decent enough, so I gave this one a go. I’ll commend it for relying a little more on general suspense that just straight up gore, but it’s not really that scary. As with most horror movies, some of the main characters make some decisions of questionable intelligence. Overall, the atmosphere is pretty solid, and the leads are decent enough to warrant at least a rental.
6/10
Taken 2 (Blu-ray) – After reading all of the criticism, I knew I’d have to give this a chance, especially considering the success of the original. As the critics said, it’s a very unnecessary sequel, with mostly recycled parts. I think you can get away with a real simple premise one time, but you’ve got to do add something in the sequel, which they clearly didn’t do. Neeson’s good enough to keep it moving relatively well, but everything else is poor.
4.5/10
Despite solid performances by Theron and Hemsworth this movie never got off the ground for me. Kristen Stuarts acting range of two emotions really bogged down the entire film. Her "Braveheart" speech near the end had all the passion and fire of Ben Stein reading a teleprompter. She would be better utilized as a drugged up sleeping beauty with no dialogue.
Expendables 2 - 6/10 - I liked the first one a 100 times better. Jet Li is in it for a whopping 5 mins then never comes back. Then is replaced by another Asian, this time a chick. She should have at least gotten naked. Chuck Norris seems like he was just thrown in there for the hell of it and sounds like it's his first time talking in front of a camera. Some of the death scenes were awesome though and I figured that
they'd kill the sniper kid off. Once he said that he was done at the end of the month then his punched his own ticket.
