Men In Black 3 - 8/10
Lincoln - Slept through the entire thing, ?/10.
The Hobbit - A little long, 9/10.
Life of Pi - Very slow and boring start, 5/10.
Killing them softly -42.6/10 I found a cure for insomnia. Just what was the point? Simply terrible. It offended 4 out of 5 senses.
Cloud Atlas - 9/10 - I personally loved this movie. Clocks in at almost 3 hours and has a slow start but its good and I never thought I'd see Tom Hanks sporting ear piercings and face tattoos.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers-1956, Movie was great 10/10
Invasion of the Body Snatchers-1978, Movie was good 7.5/10
The Invasion-2007, The real story got changed so much kinda killed it for me, 6/10
Im glad to see this story told threw different generations but sometimes you gotta keep it real as it was.
Yes, this movie is supposed to be dumb, but a few parts are the wrong kind of dumb. Still the story and idea are awesome, the execution is pretty good, the first ten minutes is almost frighteningly spot on and Terry Crews is in it! This movie is one of my favorites!
Seven Psychopaths – I thought it was pretty solid from start to finish. Its way over the top, but it works for the most part. Sam Rockwell is definitely the show stealer. I actually found the “flashback” stories far more interesting than what was happening in the present day of the film.
6.5/10
The Machinist – One of the most disturbing, hard to watch movies for me. Bale’s transformation is just downright horrifying, and the entire movie is so dark. The character Ivan is also very likely to give me nightmares. Pretty affective at displaying what extreme guilt can do to a person.
7.5/10
Red Dragon – I had caught bits and pieces of this on TV, but I had never set down and watched it from start to finish. I think it’s probably the 2nd best entry in the series, surpassing the others because of Fiennes and Norton. It’s a good cat and mouse type of thriller, but I would have liked more focus on Dolarhyde.
7.5/10
The Words – I can’t find much to fault, it was just a very average film. You could see the connection between Quaid and Cooper almost immediately, and it was very obvious who the old man was. The character interaction wasn’t strong enough to carry it beyond all of the clichés and predictability.
5/10
Syriana – I’ve tried watching this before, but I fell asleep about 1/3 of the way through, and when I woke up I had no idea what was going on. Being fully awake helps you keep everything in order a little better, but it’s still very hard to follow. You’re expected to connect the dots, and sometimes a single sentence explains a lot about what just happened. As it stands, I think it’s a very solid movie, with some memorable performances and a great story.
7/10
The Possession – a pretty average, by-the-numbers horror movie. I think it’s a little better than some of the more recent horror releases, but it’s not anything to write home about.
5/10
Lucky Number Slevin – having recently watched Seven Psychopaths, I was told by multiple people to check this one out. I had an absolute blast watching it. Hartnett, Willis, Kingsley, and Freeman are all at the top of their game here. Anyone who’s looking for a movie that will keep you guessing and has a sort of Tarantino feel to it, will like this movie. I could see myself watching this again very soon.
8/10
The Fog – I’ve had this in my person collection for a very long time. I normally ignore the critical reception of most movies, but I should have listened here. Acting is poor, story is poor, everything’s poor. Don’t worry with this unnecessary remake.
3/10
Open Range – I’ve seen the final shootout scene multiple times on TV, but never the entire movie. I bought this some time back, and decided to watch it in one sitting. I was very impressed by Duvall and Costner, but the whole story leading up to that final shootout (which is awesome, btw), is pretty simple and forgettable.
8/10
