mccain also cant raise his arms because of his 7-year POW stuff and the fact that before he was turned into a POW he was shot down by a bomb and broke both his arms...and tbh the army people might find that offensive. his arms dont go above his shoulders, so he cant salute, which they might find very disrespectful..and his upper lip doesnt move when he speaks..and when they were talking about economics he talked about his feelings...atleast for a little bit...

im going for obama, wether he was muslim, shindu, haiti, buddhist, or even jewish...i just dont like mccain that much..

i am old enough to vote...personally i am a republican but i do not think that either candidate deserves to win. Obama doesn't have enough experience in my opinion...maybe in 8 or 12 years...McCain is getting old and gets befuddled all the time. I cannot vote because I am not registered because I sent the forms in 2 days late, but it would not matter because Obama will win Illinois anyway. And on the fall of the economy...if im not mistaken, the start of the fall of the economy was from the irresponsible spending by Reagan. That is where we started to get so much debt and why were are in even more debt. It was Reagan's flawed economic plan, not the democratic majority congress of 2006. If i were to vote, it would be for a third party candidate. I am a republican though.

I trust a man who has served his country. Who has been in Washington for 25 years and before that in the US Military. Obama has been in Washington, not even four years and in politics for only 10 years. He was in his Muslim school in Indonesia while John McCain was serving in our military.

So that, and many other reasons is why I am voting fro John McCain.

Belief in capitalism? Belief in a smaller government? You don't need me to explain the Republican ideals, do you? I would not vote for McCain, but I can recognize, and agree with, many of his stances on issues.

i'm sorry, but read what you've written.
does serving your country mean you're capable of running it?
and the idea that republicans have anything... ANYTHING to do with a smaller government makes me rofl a little. republican "ideals"? are you serious? mccain wants to keep our troops, our fucking FAMILY in other countries for no good reason whatsoever. yeah, 9-11 was bad but it's over. sorry. bring the boys back home, i say. we're never going to eliminate the threat by hanging out in foreign land. LOL what are you honestly hoping for? world peace?

Wow. You either are in too testy of a mood and are simply being belligerent, or you have no idea about the ideas behind the Republican party. The party is largely built around the idea of a small government that keeps its hands out of our lives.

You're not doing your argument any favors by denying the platform of the Republican party. It only makes you appear ignorant and close-minded.

Lord Fragg..

Does serving the country make a person better suited to leading it? In my opinion yes, I feel so.

Leading is something some people can do and others cannot. Obama must be a decent leader because he does have a decent following. I do not feel he is the correct leader for our country. I feel people are voting for him because of an idea and not much else. During recent polls 2/3s of Obama supporters failed basic civics quizzes. They also failed a quiz on the issues. They were clueless also on questions about the government and constitution. So are these people voting based on knowledge or an idea?

On smaller government, you are right the Republicans do want more government control. Did you listen to Greenspan yesterday? He with the backing of Clinton deregulated banking and investment houses. He thought they would do the proper thing and do what was right. He now states he was wrong. The Clinton White House also split off many sections of the government into the private sector. I will cover one of his wonderful choices.

I work in Aerospace. We make parts for military and commercial aircraft. We are required to make our parts to military, commercial, and governmental regulations. Prior to Clinton all of these were covered under a Governmental body. Clinton split this away from the government and made it private. If we wish to make parts now we are required to allow auditors to come in and make sure we are following the rules. This happened when the government controlled the regs as well, however now we must pay to have this done. It is not cheap. We must pass this cost along to the customer. There for our prices must go up.

When the government ran things we were given the specs we needed to do our job, now we must pay for them. Since 1992 military expenditures have risen and not as a result of expanding the military, but due to the extra cost of systems procurement and spare parts procurement. I used to laugh at the $500 hammer. I know why it costs that much and it is not funny any longer, it is sick. Smaller government has now made that hammer cost $5000. Inflation did not do that, smaller government did because now the standards group is private and must make a profit.

So, what is the answer? I seriously wish I knew, but I do not feel anyone currently in Washington does know either. I feel replacing every congressman and senator would be a good start.

With that said, I do not like Obama for many reasons. I do not like his plans to add $1 trillion dollars of benefits and cut taxes. It cannot happen. I just do not like the guy at all. I do like Bidden and I was pulling for him, but the media never gave him a chance. I do not like how Obama signed on to take public campaign money and then when it became apparent he would win pulled out of his original agreement. I do not like the proven voter fraud by ACORN. I just do not like the guy. He wants to cut our military at a time when the world situation does not warrant it. He wants to sit down with those who wish to do us harm and our allies around the world. He has next to no experience with the government. He spent more time trying to become president than he has spent in the senate. He has not sponsored one piece of significant legislation either in Illinois or the US senate.

People will follow the media like sheep and they are doing it now. Your decision to follow Obama could be from an informed choice and if that is the case fine. I have made mine from an informed decision and will stick to it. I have a feeling in 2012 there will be a candidate who will ask this question, Are you better off now than you were four years ago? I also feel he will be a Republican.
