Seriously though, I feel that dude! I want to hook up my original Playstation simply to add up all of the hours that I have logged on Dragon Warrior VII! My guess would be between 700 and 800!!

I have yet to play Lost Od or Eternal Sonata, but those look like the best of the turn based fare for the 360.

It's funny though! I, (and I'm not alone!) have been clamouring for a great turn based RPG for the 360 since I bought one!!

The thing is, I don't think I could sit for 700 hours killing slimes and whatnot to grind out levels anymore. In that respect I say that even though I want to see an RPG done well on the 360, I'm not sure if I would ever get into one.

yeah secret of evermore and secret of mana are quite similar. you're missing out though, not having played evermore. better than mana, in my opinion. and i agree that 360 RPGs are missing something, turn based or not. i dunno... maybe it's just the effect of achievements ruining games for me in general, lol. either way, it doesn't feel the same as the good old SNES days. that's for sure.

jen's trying the free trial of gamefly and eternal sonata is on the way.
i tried the demo in the market and i felt burnt out by the end. of the DEMO lol.

and evol, i never got to to play dragon warrior VII but it looked badass.
you should check out lost od fo sho.
my only real gripe with the game was the skill learning system.
after every 1 or 2 battles i'd be constantly in the menu swappin' skills and trying to figure out who should learn what next, yada yada.

i actually think i spent more time doing that than playing the damn thing. :baffled:

Turned based RPGs have taken a real beating lately ... in both quality and press. The best one I've played in long time is Dragon Quest 8 for the PS2. And I am a fan of the genre ... Phantasy Star 4 for the Genesis is definitely in my top 10 of all time.

Thats an opinion and everyone has theirs, even X play.

I personally loved L4D and think it deserved the award.

I have only played the demo of l4d but I thought the gameplay was very unique, and it had such a feel of pc game brought to the console that I did like it. I don't think I would have called it shooter of the year unless there was NO competition, but there really wasn't. Gears 2 was terribly flawed and still hasn't had anything patched. CoD5 wasn't anything new to the series, much less to shooters. Brothers in Arms is... well... it's a waffle game more than a shooter

I just don't see how anything else could have won!
