Just wanted to give everyone some tips I've discovered while playing and reading up on the game:

Specializations - You get 1 spec point at Level 7 and the 2nd at Level 14. These are tied to your profile, not a specific character. That means when you unlock a Spec with any character, regardless of that char's class, that Specialization will be unlocked for all of your characters of applicable class, including for future play throughs.

Spec money-saving Glitch
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

You can buy the books to learn Ranger (rogue spec) and Templar (warrior spec) from the merchant dwarf at your party camp. Save your game before you buy a book. After purchasing it and unlocking the spec, you can reload your save and get your money back but the spec will remain unlocked.

Difficulty scaling and locations - The game partially scales the difficulty/level of enemies you fight, up to a certain point. The example given is "rats will always be relatively weak, and Revenants will always be relatively difficult until higher levels". Also, some areas of the game are tougher than others. There is usually a fight encounter as soon as you enter a new area that will give you a rough indicator of how challenging the area will be for you. Based on a 'difficulty map' from the developers:
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

Ostagar: Levels 3-5
Korcari Wilds: Lvls 3-5
Redcliffe: Lvl 6+
Mage Tower: 6+
Brecilian Forest: 7+
Haven: 8+
Orzammar: 10+
Denerim: 10+

Increase Inventory Space - You can buy 'backpacks' from merchants that will increase your inventory space by 10. Early on, they are available for 57s each. Later, they are 7g.

Tinkerer - You can get this Achievement by crafting anything--poison, a trap or a healing item--with any character.

Levelling/XP glitch -
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

After finishing your origin story and talking to people in Ostagar, you will have to undergo the Ritual of Joining to become a Grey Warden. Part of doing this involves a quest to retrieve 3 vials of Darkspawn blood and some documents. You can go into the wilds and kill Darkspawn to retrieve the 3 vials of blood.

Once you have the 3 vials, return to Duncan without the documents. He will tell you to go back and retrieve the documents, but after the conversation ends you will get XP for the 3 vials of Darkspawn blood. They stay in your inventory, so you can talk to Duncan as many times as you want to level up your character and Alistair. This is good for getting the Achievements for having your main character attain Level 20 as a warrior, rogue and mage.

The Town of Lothering -
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

You only get one chance to pass through Lothering before it is destroyed by Darkspawn, so do everything you can while there. This includes recruiting Leilana (in the tavern) and Sten (in a cage north of town).

Romances - The methods of getting a character to like you include giving them appropriate gifts and acting in accordance with their attitudes/desires. Pay attention to how they respond during conversations and even their banter amongst other party members.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

Males can romance Leilana, Morrigan and Zevran. Females can romance Alistair, Leilana and Zevran. You need to romance each of these 4 at least once across your different characters/playthroughs.

If you want to minimize extra playthroughs:
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler

Start with a female character of whatever race and class you want. Play her mostly "good" early on (making positive/merciful/helpful dialog choices) so that Alistair and Leilana like her, then after you have romanced them, play more "evil" with Zevran in your party to gain his affections. During the course of the game, do every sidequest you can find--this will help with Darkspawn kills, the Mecenary Achievement, and recruiting all possible members.

If your character is a Rogue or has high Cunning, put points in Coercion and use (Persuade) in conversations every chance you can. If your character is a Warrior or has high Strength, use (Intimidate). Save before the major plot points and choose first the one you don't want to stick with, that way as soon as the Achievement pops you can reload a save and go with the other choice.

When to save: Nature of the Beast - save before you talk to Swiftrunner in the werewolves lair. Mage Tower/Circle - save after killing the Sloth (a mage will give you the dialog option of looking around more). Urn of Sacred Ashes - don't kill Kolgrim; save after confronting him before the trial. Anvil of the Void - save before you side with Branka or Cailidin. Paragon of Her Kind - save after you finish the Anvil story arc, before traveling to Orzammar.

No matter what story choices you decide to stick with, there are 4 possible endings, so you'll want to save before committing to any of the following during endgame: Agree with Morrigan and escape; sacrifice yourself; let Alistair sacrifice himself; let Logain sacrifice himself.

Once you've done all these and completed the game, start a new male character of a different race & class. Use the XP glitch to get him to 20, and then play him as an evil bastard to romance Morrigan quickly (she needs to be above 50 and below 90 affection). Kill any NPCs you can, refuse to offer help or demand reward if you are forced, and give every gift you can to Morrigan. Once you've romanced her, make a third character, any gender, of the last class you need. Use the XP glitch again to attain level 20, and then grind whatever remaining Achievements you need (possibly killing 1000 Darkspawn--your kill tallies carry over from save to save and character to character). Don't forget to do whatever other 3 origins you need.

SAW is an extremely easy 1k, I haven't completed it yet because I needed to trade it in for DJ Hero, but I'll be getting it again soon.

Most of the achievements are killing people with certain weapons, and rescuing other people...thats basically it, I don't remember the other ones.

To keep this thread on topic, I picked Dragon Age last night, so I'll be geeking out to it tonight :)

I dont believe you have to complete the game with each class (I could be wrong) but I do believe you have to atleast play through each origins background story at the beginning of each game.

You only have to play the beginning story of each origin for those achievements, which takes about 30-1:15 for each one. Then for the level 20 of each class, you can gain a bunch of experience right in the beginning after your origin story and level up to 20 easily.

The only difference is the beginning hour of the game. After you hit the Grey Warden part of the story, everything is the same. So you just have to play each beginning once for those achievements.

Yes, but as long as you save right before the end, you can reload the save and change the ending, etc. Otherwise you'll be playing the game forever or giving up quite soon.
