I does start a little slow. But give it time, especially if you are only a level 2. You haven't even put your foot in the water yet.

I agree that the game started off a little slow, but the starting zone is more or less just to compensate for the learning curve. After leaving Fyrestone I felt like the game became a lot more exciting. I'm on my second playthrough now and still find the game very enjoyable.
I would also suggest to play co-op if you haven't gotten the chance to do so yet.

As far as the storyline goes I believe there are only 2 playthroughs. After you defeat the Vault boss the main menu gives you an option for a second playthrough and you start the game over from the very beginning (all enemies scale to a higher level and drop better loot). Maybe someone who has beaten the second playthrough will be able to answer if you can play again or if you would have to start a new character.

i found my first alien gun today! woot! a sniper, and it's not half bad!
it only does about half the damage of my other sniper, but it deals electric damage, and it seems that the elemental damage kicks in about 80-90% of the time, as opposed to regular weapons kicking in 40-50% of the time. i'm still on the fence though. might give it to jen.
oh and i got my million and level 30 at the same time today too.
