Wow that sucks man, but like someone else previously mentioned, the carpet isn't a good place for it. I leave my power brick on the hard kitchen floor and that gets it hot enough as it is! I've been very lucky to get a sturdy 360 and it hasn't given me problems thusfar (it's even been dropped a couple times

I've seen people tie them up in the air with strings, or some will set it across something small and open, like a small wastebasket.
