Not that i will be participating in this event, as a contender that is, i offer to be part of the judge jury and executioner's team though
Bear with me on this one.
But how about a "league" type of competition, that is broken up into gs categories, say like the world cup, group A will be consisting of players with 0-50,000 starting gamerscore, group B 50,001-100,000gs, Group C 100,001-150,000gs, Group D 150,001-200,000. and continuing on until the highest starting gs has a group of at least 4. then every month each players score will be taken and the top four in each group will be awarded points 1st-5 points, 2nd- 3 points and 3rd- 2 point 4th- 1 point. for a group to be "entered" it must have at least 4 competitors...
Then after say 3 months of "league" play, playoffs begin but with a twist, two teams will be formed of the top 4 point scorer's in all the groups, for example
Group A
1st place- AA
2nd place- ZZ
3rd place- BB
4th place- YY
Group B
1st place- CC
2nd place- XX
3rd place- DD
4th place- WW
Team 1 for playoff's will be AA, XX, BB, WW, and team 2 will be ZZ, CC, YY, and DD. and so on if there is more than 2 groups.
The play offs will be a total head to head team 1 vs team 2 ...
each month the winner will be team with most combined gamerscore, this will go on for 3 months unless say team 2 wins the first 2 months.
Here's the twist, then after the playoffs is won, the team winning wins the main prize, but then there will be an mvp prize. This will be a head to head 1v1, the gamers with the highest gain in the playoffs from each team, 2 weeks, to win mvp.
Part rules:
---Offline gains are legal, but you must sign into live before the end of the month, if you don't you last registered score will be final for that month, and your next months starting score will be the score you sign into live with. for example, player AA starts 1st month with 10,000gs plays on live til 15,000, goes offline, plays offline and stays offline past the end of the month, Player AA finishing score for month 1 is 5,000gs. Player AA signs into live on the 3rd day of month 2, or the 23rd day of month 2, with 22,000gs, player AA's starting score for month 2 is now 22,000.
--- There will be an odd number of officials, that ARE NOT in the competition.
--- Disputes or such choices will be put to a vote, majority winning, decision final.
--- And all your other usual rules, ex: no gamesaving, no dressing up as anyone but yourself, no second accounts period. blah blah blah...
Now this can be changed into weeks instead of months to give a higher chance of lead changes.
What's the people thunk?? lol
I would like to admit i love this idea how about we organize a XBL prty and have dedicated members talk im game

It's funny how we can't even manage a tournament without everyone throwing a bitch fit. I understand bitching to a certain degree, but this is a little too much don't you think. I wasn't apart of it last year, because when I first read about it. I thought to myself "How much drama will be apart of this" I was right. I have one question though if it last over multiple weeks/months. Why should two games make such a big deal? Really 2550 gamerscore. In one week. One week. This tournament should be about coming together as a website and show some friendly competition other than everyone throwing the book at everyone and just everyone get a long for once. I'll take part in this if I'm still around, but dammit guys (lou) Just be happy. It's a friendly competition, sure there will be plenty of drama again, but guys calm your shit take a xanax and play tetris. Granted when I did that last week I ended up with cuts all over my wrist and throat but still it was fun while I was playing tetris. Just be happy. <3

So easy for you to say that, try being the one that loses because of one of those games and then come back and say this same thing.

I can understand because I've been beat like that in gamerscore competitions but they are still legit games to play, maybe people should be split into classes 0-100,000 gamerscore in one category and another for everyone over 100,000 that way most easy games have been knocked out. Either way its a game so it counts even if it is a cheap way to win.
