Because that's what it was called in Japan, instead of "Project X" it was known as "Playstation X" and "PSX" just happened to stick. I understand your confusion and there's probably even more confusion as Sony did in fact release a PSX Console that acted as a DVR and PS2
i remember when that came up a long time ago, we seriously though that was the first look at the PS3. ah, the minds of children.
But im not confused. at all. im well aware of the changes revolving around the old school playstations. i wasnt pro-Microsoft until Halo 3 dropped so i gamed strictly with Sony the majority of my career. i just dont see the point of having multiple names for something that was the first playstation. it's the PS1. There was a fat PS1 that didnt have the dual sticks on the controller, and then the slimmer one dropped and it came with the sticks. It was still the PS1, just upgraded. Then there were these even smaller PS1's which came with an attached screen, which honestly i didnt even know exist until my cousin pulled one out of storage. But you really dont need a new name to separate them. Just like there was a Fat PS2 which i had, then they brought out the slim PS2, but it was still called the PS2.

What about people who refer to the xbox3 as the xbox one??? Come on, people!!!
Microsoft just fucked themselves. I mean honestly. That false poster for the "Xbox Infinity" was 1,000,000,000x better than any idea the creative glue eaters at Microsoft came up with...
