all the fucking combat in story-oriented games lately. seriously, do developers think that the player has to be shooting at something every second of every minute during the campaign to enjoy the game?
all 3 of the past single-player-orientated games I've played (Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, Uncharted 3) have made me so upset to the point of verbal rage due to their shitty and constant combat system. it's unfortunate, because in each of those games I've adored the story, but found myself on the brink of tears due to frustration in the last thirds of the game as I all wanted to do was finish the story line and run through all the enemies.
The Last of Us especially, there's no fucking reason in all of eternity for (minor spoiler I guess maybe possibly?)
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerthe last third of the game to turn into fucking call of duty in terms of combat. for a game that's supposed to be a mildly realistic and super serious apocalyptic survival game, having 15 minutes long way over the top gunfights for no fucking reason other than to fill time really really pissed me off.
I would have been happy if that game had 5 combat encounters in the entire fucking game and the rest was just walking/talking/story.
seriously tainted my opinion of the game. if it weren't for the combat Last of Us probably would've have been in the top 3 games of this console generation, but because of it i'd put it around a solid 10th or 12th place. Amazing how much the story is able to make up for the complete and utter shit excuse for a combat system
