I would say it depends on the game for me.
The "No Russion" level in MW2 was very controversial but I found it necessary to have because it made the storyline so much more realistic and engrossing.
Now on the other hand for example the "Numbers" level in Black Ops where you interrogate a person and are constantly shoving glass in his mouth then punching him, I found it unnecessary and tasteless. Especially for the fact that it made the player actually press a button to perform this torture.
Again this is just my opinion.
um...technically the "no russian" mission you had to push a button to kill the civilians...i mean you didnt HAVE to, but it was implied you had to....so why youre comparing the two like opposites when you choose to shoot the civilians in mw2 just like punching the dude in blops...
honestly, no. i dont think they care. call me desensitized but i dont find them too violent. theyre a part of the game and a showcase of the game developers creativity and how much effort theyll actually WANT to put forth in a game. if they have more creative things that just happen to be violent, that makes me feel theyre very proud of the game and want it to be really fun and entertaining, like its s'posed to be. so no, the x-ray attack is not "too much" it just shows bones cracking...1000 ways to die does that, and i think it just has the tv equivalent of a teen rating..
